I'm 78. I and my '09 Corolla are in good shape. I really like the eco-friendly used Prius. Should I buy? Or am I too old for it to make financial sense? Miles per year--about 7,500. Mostly city.
i also drive 9,500 miles a year. i'm 60, and it makes sense in every way except financially. but it's great entertainment, and i'm not a gambler or sports fan.
We just put $850 into our 2007 Camry Hybrid. 120,000 miles, first replacement of front rotors and pads, complete throttle body clean out, various minor and sundry items like inspection, tire changeover etc... If we do struts, it will be like a new car by comparison, and with everything else in ship shape, probably another 5 years. It's paid for and this is the first major maintenance except for one water pump.
Depends on your budget, a low miles gen 3 would be good, and expensive, a high mileage gen 2 would be ok less expensive but it might get expensive. Really, buying one with 100,000 might be problematic, a newer used corollia would make more sense. If you want to start making zero emissions there's no question, but if there's a budget?
