I have a 2012 PiP and the standard 120V charging cable that came with the car has gone bad. Instead of buying a replacement cable assembly from Toyota for $1,200 I would like to replace the defective section of the cable. The defective section is after the inline transformer, near the plug (that goes into the car). I see that for $100 I can buy replacement cable with plug directly from Leviton. The help that I need is disassembling the transformer (I don't know the technical term for it) itself. I have opened it and removed screws, but the innards are resisting coming out, and I don't want to force and break anything. I would appreciate any help taking this apart so that I can change the bad section out with the new part from Leviton. Thank you for any help you can provide!!
Yes - I called Toyota yesterday, gave them the VIN and was told that there was nothing I could do other than going to a dealership and getting a new unit. The picture that I've attached is of the transformer with the cover off - I can't figure out how to disassemble it so I can install the new cable with charging handle. Thank you for any help you can provide with this...
