I picked up my kit from theretrofitsource.com. it's a 9003/H4 Morimoto elite 35watt 5000K bulb kit. 9003/H4: Morimoto Elite HID System - HID Systems from The Retrofit Source Inc Quick Install guide for putting in after market HIDs. Your bumper will need to come off to remove the headlights. It's very easy. Remove all the tabs and screws you see on top. In the wheel wells there will be a few clips then where the fender meets the bumper should be a screw. I kept all my bottom clips on and rest the bumper on the ground like so. This package label will be very helpful. If you're struggling to get the power wire onto the battery the black piece comes out. Like so Under the OEM headlight is a spot for the OEM ballast but ours is smaller so I used the middle screw to attach the ballast then using short self tapping screws for the other holes. No the screws did not cause any damage. I used this bolt on the left for the ground. Next I mounted the control box and wrapped in electric tape. At some point you need to take the OEM headlight bulb plug and plug right into the kit to trigger the lights on. I tapped up this connection as well. Here is the old bulb coming out. Sadly the kit did not come with gaskets so I had to cut the factory one a bit. I covered the holes in silicon after. LEFT is OEM RIGHT is HID 5000K on the left and 4300K on the right Excuse the dirty headlights. Other Side Ran the wire to the other side through the bumper middle bar. Poked through this wall thing. Ballast under the headlight. More wiring paths New bulb on the left and OEM on the right. Tried a 4300K on the left and a 5000K on the right. Ended up keeping the 5000K Had to tear up the gasket so used silicon and tape to help. Put everything back together. Get your shine on Adjust the lights too. Still good after 2 weeks. Went on a country road night drive and kept getting people flashing their lights at me so going to align even lower.
Driver side went out 3 days ago. Troubleshooting says the bulbs are ok so ordered an extra ballast. In the mean time I've put my factory bulbs back in. Not off to a good start. Decided to order extra headlight gaskets too althought it is not related to the light not working.
The only way I can think is if you leave parts hanging. Could pull certain parts back just to get the headlights out.
Got my new ballast and igniter in. Swapped driver side with all new parts and nothing. Measured voltage upto the ballast and looked good. Even continuity tested on my grounds. Swapped parts out on both sides to the point where nothing worked anymore! Hours later my neighbor suggested disconnecting and reconnecting my ground. Took it off, scraped more paint off the area, and let there be light! Next time anything I'm re installing the ground first. Didn't want to pull the whole bumper off but had to get the headlight out completely. It takes some pulling but this is a way around it. Remove the 4 bolts with a 10mm. The other spots are clips or screws. So happy it's fixed. Going to drag race tonight and want to look good! Hope to get video and start a thread.
