I replaced my stereo about a week and a half ago, during installation I got the red triangle. Figured it was because the stereo unit was completely unhooked, restarted the car and it went away. Next day, drove 150 miles with no issues. The next day, I started it up, the engine shuttered real bad, so I drove it around the block. It made it almost all the way back, limping, then died and the dashboard lit up like a xmas tree. Anyway, the gas engine wont come on at all anymore, and the battery looks like its dying?(on the screen).... I got a mini-vci and here are my codes: P0852, P0A0F, P3190, B1421, B1423, C2315, B1248 I'm hoping this is just a bad 12v, but can you guys tell me if anything else appears to be wrong? Thanks in advance
DTC P0852 means there is a problem with the Park switch. Since you reported you replaced the stereo, first check the wiring to the Park switch, it probably is loose. DTC C2315 is pointing to the same issue. P0A0F means the engine will not start. You didn't need the hybrid vehicle ECU to tell you that. P3190 is logged by the engine ECU and reports poor engine power. B1423 means a problem with the air conditioner system, most likely insufficient refrigerant. Prior to your working on the car, how well was the AC functioning? B1248 means that the radio is not communicating with the gateway ECU, which is reasonable since you removed it. It wouldn't hurt to check the 12V battery and replace it if marginal. However that is not the cause of your car's problems.
Thanks for double checking my codes, I'm kind of a noob. It doesn't seem that any of those errors codes would cause my car to have engine trouble and die? Are there other codes I'm not getting because the engine won't start?
The AC was fine, but it was stuck on full blast the day before...(I hadn't wired in the steering wheel control adapter yet. In fact still haven't; I immediately put the stock stereo back in...
How many bars appear on your fuel gauge? First correct any problems with the Park switch. Then see what happens.
My fuel gauge is at two bars, but it was certainly acting like it wasn't getting gas to the engine before it died. I'll put more in to be on the safe side.
I put about 1.5 gallons of gas in her, still won't start. I ran the battery self test here (Weird stuff happening? MPGs dropping? Test The Battery | PriusChat) and got a reading of 11.6-11.8v. Am I correct in assuming that replacing the 12v battery would be my next step? Also, I looked at the park switch and did not see any visible loose connections....
Finally got it looked at. Turned out to be an obstructed air flow sensor. The dealership only charged me $75. I expected a much bigger problem.
