Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted. But I'm getting into modding my 2011 Prius IV, mostly it's been cosmetic upgrades so far (35% window tint, 5000k HID's with LED parking and reverse lights, replacing a clouded headlight assembly) but I'm wondering about performance upgrades. My friend put upgraded spark plugs and wires in his Hyundai and I'm wondering if that would give my car any upgraded performance. I don't really care about gas mileage because I'm blessed enough owning a Prius, and usually drive in Powe Mode anyway. I tried to search the forums, but any thoughts?
What they said. A spark is a spark. The only real upgrade is for longevity and the stock plugs fill that bill quite nicely. Don't waste your money on ANYTHING that claims a cheap and easy performance increase; it's all lies.
Sparks upgrade wont give u performance. As i know, there isn't really update Engine performance for Prii.:/
Thanks guys. Clearly, I can see there's no point in doing it, I'll save my money for a set of Prius 5 rims
I'll just stay whatever the stock is and toyota's recommendation. You will lose MPG is you upgrade it. Just my 2 cents.
Last time I asked, just after we bought, those were around $390 CAN apiece. That's at a dealership. I was looking for extra rims for snow tires, our OEM's are 17". Ended up getting 15" Corolla steel rims, lol.
Have you looked into how significantly different the car is with those rims? If you go look up part numbers at villagetoyotaparts.com, you'll see that with the 17" rims go different part numbers not just for shocks, springs, etc., but even for parts of the body sheet metal (compare, for example, 61608-47061 and 61608-47081), and possibly even for the rear plastic storage compartment (different to fit between those differently-shaped wheel wells). I would never have guessed, but with the 17" wheels you get a different car. -Chap
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Many members mount 17 and 18 inch wheels, including the ones he wants on the non level five Prii.
