Long term storage

First make sure your 12v battery is in good condition and is fully charged upon you leaving. Then all you have to do is disconnect the negative battery cable and that's it. When you get back, you would have to get your key to enter through the driver's side door and crawl back to the hatch area, to open it manually. Then reconnect the negative battery cable and you're back in business.

 

or leave the hatch open if it's in your garage.

 

IF.....it is to be stored inside where you have access to AC power, it would be easier and maybe better in the long run to connect a "tender" type small automatic charger to the 12 V and then not worry about it.

 

To avoid tire flat spots you can bring them all up to the max indicated on sidewalk. Or better, if practical: jack the car up and settle all four corners onto jack stands at the scissor jack support points. The tires can even still be touching down slightly.

Also leave a window cracked and rags under the wiper arms, enough to lift the wipers off the glass.

Also ensure the gas task is full too

 

Ohhhh, I agree 100% with this statement. The most fail safe precaution you can implement.

 

Add Staybil gas stablizer is really important for this long of a storage!!!

 

Good stuff here......with the possible exception of leaving a window cracked.
In many areas, you would come back to find it filled with bugs......or lizards.

A piece of foam pipe insulation works good for the wipers; keeps them off the glass AND protected from the sun.

 

Or remove the wiper blades, which is very easy, and keeps them safe. Then slip a very short piece of small hose over the tip of the arm to keep the metal off the glass.
