In the gen3 hatchback, mesh is installed behind the grills to protect the radiators, especially the inverter coolant radiator. If that is damaged, very expensive damage can occur, as in inverter failure.

Here's the result of todays window tinting. It looks a bit darker than what it really is.

Some markets have had them before the refresh. Waste of money imo. But yes they look nice. Just no reason in spending on narrow 16's

Yes, they are factory installed, but they are the optional 16" alloy wheels.

I saw where someone else had modified the support structure by the spare tire, in order to have at least some storage area.
    Here's my version:

    rack.jpg wood.jpg wood bottom.jpg

Now to find some plastic containers that will slip into the open areas.

If only there was room for a non super custom dual 10" sub enclosure under there. How much depth is there on the sides of the spare from the floor and the deck?

I would be worried in a rear end accident, with the metal and wood now in place. I am sure Toyota designed it with the foam in place and tire as part of a safety device.

Yes it is. Lightweight and easy to bend with a hand bender.

There's 5" beneath the conduit to the floor. I have the shelf raised 1/2" to allow the conduit to have enough clearance to go over the high point of the spare tire.

I understand your point, but I'm apparently not anywhere nearly as paranoid as you seem to be. No offence meant, we just view things differently. I see the wood and conduit as a non-issue.
When Toyota chose to use foam, I'm sure that cost of material (and weight) played a very important role in their decision.

maybe instead of running the metal pipes
great mod, but why lay the bars from front to back? should lay them sideways (just in case something rear ends you and send those rods going through someone's back)
