I spoke with Sarah (very nice) yesterday and she had also told me about the price increase due to lower stock(they had about 50 cars and were trying to get rid of them, hence the sale). But their prices are still good. Unfortunately, I'm looking for a package 5 and she said they don't get that package at their dealer. :/

Any salesman will work with you if they know they what they are up against. It's the nature of negotiation. When I was choosing a job right out of school, one of the salaries was significantly lower. I called my now boss and told him IBM had him beat, and he beat their offer to get me to come work for them. Had I been really considering the other job I would have called the other manager afterwards and made the same comment. You are aware of what you can get it for at Miller, use it to your advantage.

I bought my car at Koons, not from Miller. I dealt with Aiman Riyati, 703-930-3888. Tell him you heard about him from the young lady who bought the Black Prius (I'll give you my name in a PM, but I'd rather not post here).

I purchased a Silver Pkg. 6 on Wednesday from Miller Toyota. Worked with Eddie Garcia, who was very helpful. Entire process started last Friday with a phone call. Total cost was $24671.43 ($24,430 sale price, $198 processing fee, $41.53 city tax, and $2 temp tags). Transaction took about two hours, so I was on the road at approximately 11:00 to return to IL. Great experience at the dealer. Even adding $210 for airfare, I saved over $1600 from the best deal I could work locally. Best news: 49.2 MPG on 870 mile trip to IL.

jwb, congrats on the new prius. I really sucked out as my drive would have only been 600 miles. My hat is off to you.

Wow! I just tried to get a pkg 5 from a local dealer and he wouldn't go below 26,200 (after taxes). Methinks I'll be heading down to VA when I can (the dealer HokieHybrid mentioned says he can get a pkg, but if I can get a pkg 6 for same or elss than a pkg 5 here, I'll go for that!)

I'm wondering, are taxes calculated using the sale price or the total cost (dest, tags, doc fees, etc)?

I just got a call from Sarah Baumgartner 703-396-5026 (Miller Toyota) and my number came up! My Barcelona Red 2006 Prius will be arriving in port the first of April w/a discount of about $2,000 off of MSRP.

She says there are more available with up to about $1,700 off MSRP. Washington Dulles Airport (IAD) is about 25 minute taxi ride from Miller Toyota, and Jet Blue has one way cross country tickets for $99. Sarah has been very nice to work with and there were no high pressure sales tactics for extras, etc. I am looking forward to picking up this car in just a few weeks!

    Eric,

Where do you live? Are you picking the car up then driving it home or are you shipping it?

Just curious how far you are from Miller Toyota.

I got $1000 over MSRP (about $1200 discount) from "Toyota Sam" at Miller Toyota for a Barcelona Red with package 7. Will pick up the car next weekend -- so far everything has been extremely easy and Sam has been a pleasure to work with.

I live in Maryland, not far from Virginia - easy driving distance for me. However, I have heard (under this thread) people have come in from as far as Indiana by airplane to Miller Toyota and then drove the new Prius home (about an 8 hour drive or so). I do not know anything about shipping a car.

I have received a number of PM's through priuschat indicating a good experience with Sarah at Miller Toyota (703-396-5026). She is my sales person there and has been great to work with. She may be able to help you with some of these questions.

Yes, I agree with Eric !!!
I am one of those people PM ing Eric about Miller toyota with 2200 off MSRP.
I Live on Long Island NY. And Just drove back from miller toyota manasses,VA.
in my 2006 #6 seaside pearl prius.
My sales person was Sarah and I highly reccomend her.
    her direct phone# is 703-396-5026
I called her after seeing eric's post about the $2200.00 off MSRP.
I gave her my credit card# for a $500.00 deposit and she said it will be available in 10 days. And it arrived when she said it would.
I got oneway airfare for $29.00 and flew down to get it.
sarah had the car and paper work all set. I was in and out with the prius in 1 hour.
Drive home took 6 hours. got about 48MPG
I am very happy with the car and the deal I got from miller toyota. I would do it again in a heart beat.
Thank you ERIC you saved me alot of money with your post.

By the way I signed up for a 2006 #5 seaside pearl in august 2005 at a local toyota dealer and he couldn't deliver it so I canceled it after I left a deposit with sarah.

Miller toyota is a great place to buy a 2006 prius they get about 25 Pri every 10 days.

I would totally have gone down for the deal if they had package 5's. I'm still waiting for my package 5 to come in here and would be paying the same price (out the door) for a package 6 in VA, but I really don't want the extra feature that a package 6 offers. :/

FWIW, I was shopping for package 4 because I didn't want to pay for extra stuff I didn't care about either. Two things surprised me, though. First, I was able to get #6 from Sarah at Miller Toyota for very nearly #4's MSRP. Second, the thing my wife seems to like more than anything else about her (!) new Prius is the bluetooth phone. Go figure.

We're very happy with our choice (and with Eric for pointing out the opportunity.)

Well things are going well for me, my Prius (with color and options we wanted) should have arrived in port today. So, in about a week I should be able to pick up the car. It is hard to believe I will be getting about $2,200 off of MSRP. Thanks to Sarah Baumgartner (Miller Toyota). She has really been good to work with!

It is my understanding she still has more Prius with up to about $1,700 off of MSRP (depending on the package) available.

We're picking up our Barcelona Red #6 this evening from Miller Toyota - we live maybe 20 minutes away from the dealership. Our saleman is "Hash" (Darioush Hashemzadeh - 703-396-5037) ... the same guy who sold me our '91 Previa and '04 Sienna. My wife and I went in for a test drive on March 25th, were very impressed, went home and talked about it, and then called Hash - put the deposit on a credit card, told him the colors and package, and he said we'd probably have it sometime between April 4th and 11th. Yesterday (the 11th) he called to say that it just came off the truck!

I just checked the Miller website, and there's a white package 6 listed as a "manager's special" for $24,430. That's probably the Prius my wife and I drove on the 25th. It may have a few miles on it, but that's a pretty good deal.

Our Prius was $1300 below MSRP - not the very best deal, but we didn't have to haggle at all, and I like dealing with Hash - no pressure at all. I'm pleased with the deal (getting Kelley Blue Book for my trade-in) and I'm looking forward to getting the Prius tonight!

Just a follow-up on my purchase. I got a Barcelona Red #7 from Miller about two weeks ago. Total price (NJ tax, tags, etc.) was around $28900. I took care of most details via email or fax before arriving. On delivery day, I walked in with a check from Lending Tree without a problem (just needed to do a credit application to check credit), spent around two hours doing the test drive and paperwork, and was on my way.

They charged a $198 doc fee and dropped a $150 "online ordering fee". Given the deal on the car ($1000 over dealer invoice), I decided not to make a stink about the fee. The salesperson was Toyota Sam and he was extremely easy to work with.

I had to take the car back due to an alignment problem (toe-out on the left front tire). They fixed it under warranty and even gave me a free Prius rental since the car was under 5000 miles.

All in all, I happily recommend both the sales group and the service area at Miller!.

Do they have package #2s at $1800 off MSRP? I just bought one from them and thought I got a great deal getting around $600 off.

I wanted to thank Eric (And this forum) for pointing me to Sarah at Miller Toyota. Comparing her to all of the other Toyota dealers in the metro DC area, (A) No one can come close to touching her price, (B) She is the only sales advisor who's not using the "Well, you know, Meester XXX, the gas is almost $3.00/gal, so you'd better get this car soon, and no I can't go below MSRP, because I have 3 other people who want this car (But haven't put any money down on it yet, hmmmmm), © AND is just plain fun to talk to. B)

Keeping my fingers crossed that she is able to find a Seaside Pearl Package 7 soon.

With gas prices at almost $3....demand for Priuses is on the rise I'm sure. It appears Alexandria has their internet pricing back at MSRP. And Koons, where I got mine never advertised for anything less than sticker. I got them to match Miller's quoted price since I had it in writing and easily could have bought it from the dealer who sold me my 1996 Camry.

Well I'm happy for all of you getting these great deals on a great car - with tax credit to boot!
Sure wish we we're seeing discounts like that on the West coast.
I purchased from local dealer at MSRP after putting down $500 to get on a 50-name wait list. It took four months to get my pkg/color choice.
I shopped around a bit before pulling the pin. The best deal I could find was through the Costco buying program ($200 off MSRP) but the participating dealer was farther away, and I was tired of waiting.
The good news is local dealer was straight forward. Just tax and license, no "junk" add-on fees, or high pressure sales pitches.
The best news is the car itself. Did I say I love my Prius! :D
I'm betting you guys will love your new car too. It simply rocks!
I love the mp3 player which lets you organize your music in titled folders on your burned cd's.
I love the regenerative braking. After a drive home I put my finger on the front brake disc - cool to the touch. No more brake dust grime on the front wheels and how long will they last? 100k?
I love the MPG, the brisk acceleration, smooth CV transmission, the MFD, the keyless entry, and on and on...
Without a doubt the best car, and best peice of technology I've ever owned. Can't wait to get my bluetooth phone.
    Again, congratulations and enjoy.

Strange that prices are so low in the Washington DC area for Prii, when demand is comparatively high there. (Not compared to California, but compared to many other markets.) I wonder if one possible reason is the fact that Laurel, Maryland is home to one of only two CarMax-branded new Toyota dealerships in the country. They offer $1,000 off the MSRP of Prii as a matter of course. I didn't buy from CarMax, but their discount was what enabled me to talk down the VA dealer I ultimately bought from. In fact, that dealer (plus the availability of the package 2 in the region) was the main reason I bought in DC even though I live in galaxy far far away. Maybe Miller, et cetera, are motivated to cut prices because they have to compete with CarMax...? No such bargains seem to exist in my Midwest city, and believe me I shopped around.
