Waterproof Car Top Carriers For Cars With Or Without Rack | Roof Bag Car Top Carriers Made in USA With 2-yr warranty Most of the time, the capacity of my Prius C is fine, but there are times when I could use some more space. So, I ordered a Roof Bag, and got a chance to try it out when I went camping this last weekend. I was able to put the sleeping bags, the tent, bedding and clothes in the Roof Bag. The rest of the camping gear fit in the hatchback. In my last car, we stuffed every square inch of the car in order to put the gear somewhere, but this time, we had plenty of room for ourselves. There was only a slight reduction in MPG. It straps to the roof without needing a luggage rack - and is far cheaper than adding a luggage rack.
Hi!! Thank you SO much for your post, this is exactly the question I was scouring the internet to have answered. We are about to do a 3500 mile trip in my 2008 prius (moving socal to boston) and we have literally not two pennies to rub together - so all of these $300+ Thule options are really not "options" for me, and we're trying to move our entire livelihoods with us...oi oi oi. I have a couple followup questions for you actually, if you don't mind answering them: 1. What was the max speed you reached on your camping trip? and how did the bag fare? We will be wanting to go at least 65pmh for the entirety of the looonnnng long drive. 2. How full did you have the bag? Did you find that if it wasn't 100% full, did it flap a lot or make road noise? 3. Did you buy the associated roof "mat", and if so do you think you needed it? I think it sounds like a good idea but also a ripoff - something tells me its the same material that the no-slip home rug mats are made of (that you put under your rug to keep it in place) but more expensive. Thanks so much!!!
I realize this post is a few years old but I want to thank you for recommending the Roofbag. I saw it too late to get for our trip to Myrtle Beach so I bought a cheap one and the zipper broke as I was sealing it up rendering it useless. We stuffed our bags in the hatchback and in another car that was traveling with us. When we got to our destination we ordered from Roofbag.com and had it delivered to our condo for the trip home. The 11 cu. ft bag fit perfectly on the roof, stored our bags securely and kept them dry. This was a huge space saver on the way home. We drove from Myrtle Beach to Michigan and had no troubles. There was a little noise from the straps and a slight reduction in mpg. We averaged speeds of 65-70mph. But the whole system was so easy to use. This was a great find. Thanks again for the recommendation.
