I messed up when jumping my car. Two fuses needed to be replaced, and also the fuseable link block. I've replaced those, but emergency informational lights are still on. I checked the areas: brakes worked, brake fluid okay, etc. So how do I turn off the lights? I know when I change oil, the maintenance light will stay on and has to be turned off ; so is there a way to turn off these lights/? Also, do the diagnostic tools at Autozone work on hybrids? I've not tried it, but curious. thanks.
You may have damaged the power electronics in the inverter. Check into getting a salvaged replacement as they are available at a reasonable cost. JeffD
Can the car be made READY? If yes, make the car READY, then measure voltage across the 12V battery which should be ~13.8V. If it is much lower, then you destroyed the DC/DC converter during the botched jumpstart and therefore the inverter will need to be replaced. Mini VCI is your best bet for reading Prius DTC (and for that matter, best for all Toyota vehicles).
try disconnecting the 12v negative for a minute and reconnect. if that doesn't clear the codes, you can try auto zone, their reader is good for some, but not all. after that, it's buy a prius reader or pay the dealership.
What do you mean by "can the car be made READY"? I I do know how to find the battery power. The car seems to be running fine, but I'd like to know for sure that the lights don't signify something being wrong yet. I'll check the battery power now again. Thanks for replying. Also, is it possible to procure the c ode for turning off the dash lights( the red exclamation point in the triangle, and two others?) if all things are okay? or do I need to take it do a dealership? thanks
the battery is in the hatch, under the floor in the right fender. if you're not comfortable disconnecting it, you should go to the dealer.
1. When the car can be driven, the "READY" light appears in the dashboard. If you do not see this light, the car cannot be driven. 2. What is your means to determine "the car seems to be running fine"? Are you, for example, able to drive the car at freeway speeds? 3. If you see the red triangle master warning light and two other lights, then "all things" are definitely not OK. Exactly which lights are on? 4. Assuming that you see the READY light appear, measure the voltage across the 12V battery. If substantially under 13.8V, the DC/DC converter has failed and the inverter needs to be replaced.
Now might be the time to read through the owners manual, to prevent further operator driven errors. How to "jump" a Prius is well covered in the manual. If you don't have one, you can download the sections from Toyota, and compile them into one big PDF w/ a PDF editor. No need to bother w/ the Warranty handbook as the longest warranty aspect of of 8years/1000,000miles is over.
