Toyota Prius Turn Signal / Hazard Rear Camera Activation Kit w/ Navigation Override - All Models - PriusChat Shop Here ya go Sir..
This is not an issue for some of us who have driven pick ups with camper, 16 to 22 foot long rental trucks.
You can set the rear camera to ON for as long as you like. However, if you push any buttons on the radio to cause it to change screens to let's say settings or audio, you'll have to turn the camera off and re-engage it again to get the rear camera back on. This is done by Toyota. I have no control over it.
The dividing bar isn't a big factor in rear visibility, although headlights can be covered by the bar at night. Some people find the bar very annoying, but I quickly adjusted to it. The bar is better than a single piece of curved glass, which could be expensive to replace. The big issue with rear visibility is the C-pillar blind spot, which is easily large enough to hide an entire vehicle. Many people use the stick-on blind spot mirrors, but I'd rather adjust the entire side mirror outward to cover the blind spot. That means the side mirrors will no longer work as rear-view mirrors. When the side mirrors are adjusted properly, you will see passing vehicles transition smoothly from the rear-view mirror to the side mirror to the side windows. Yes, it's still necessary to check the side windows for vehicles directly beside you. Be warned, vehicles look smaller in the right side mirror than they do on the left side.
