I bought a used 2011 Prius Hatchback. It was perfect until yesterday. When I went to go to work the check hybrid light was on . Then the check engine light went on. The car would only go about 40 mph. Then it would only go 10 mph. I stopped the car waited awhile then switched it to performance ( or whatever it is called) and was able to get to work. Work is about 2 miles away. When it was in eco mode when it switched from electric motor to gas engine the car made a loud clunking noise. Love my car but must say I am a bit nervous about it.
My car has 54000 miles . It is at the Toyota dealer right now. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

Was it a Toyo Certified Used one?

Being a 2011, and your mileage, you should be ok for warranty, assuming it's a hybrid component? Knock on wood.

There is a recall on the inverter, if it hasn't been done, that could be your problem.

ok here sis what they said . A hose on the bottom of the manifold fell off. I think they called it a purge valve and that caused all my trouble. I will also call them about the inverter. Cost me 300 total with the tow. I guess that wasn't too bad.

I had this happen once before on a RX300 I was driving. The hose that connects to the air filter box came off when I changed the filter.

The recall was probably completed, if it was outstanding, it would show up in their system.
