A quick question: Which versions (?) of the v (2, 3, and/or 5) have a 6-disk cd changer as standard equipment? Thanks. My 2005 Prius was totaled by a larger vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign (DWT- Driving While Texting?). No injuries, and I am now considering a Prius replacement.
Re: 6-disk cd changer? I don't believe that there is an option on any of the Prius v wagons for a 6 CD changer. That will have to be an after market mod. I believe the v and c are going to focus on smart phone or iProduct hookups versus a CD changer or using a DVD with music mp3 on it since those will be easier to get the most music over the CD changers the days and they are now standard versus an option.
Re: 6-disk cd changer? :focus: Yes, people still do use CDs and non of the new Prius' offer a CD Changer as an option but there are aftermarket ones out there.
Re: 6-disk cd changer? All Vs come with a single-disc cd player, as Keiichi suggested. So it goes (I'm old school). Purchased my Barcelona Red w/ Dark Grey interior today.
Re: 6-disk cd changer? I may be old school, but Toyota (and most/all manufacturers) must consider cassette players to be ancient school--one is not available in any Prius. Sorry. You can probably find a cord that will enable you to plug a portable cassette player (think old Sony Walkman, etc.) into the vehicle audio system . . .
Re: 6-disk cd changer? I understand completely about the whole CD changer thing. I think they gave up on it given more and more people are carrying around iPod Touch or iPhones or android phones. Some, like me, setup a USB flash stick with a selection of my music and use it that way. Your 6 CD changer now becomes a USB stick or your phone or even a DVD with MP3s.
Given how poor the execution is for the USB, I don't mind sticking with a CD changer until Toyota improves the interface. No one's going to scroll through 2-4GB of music at 1 page/sec (on the Gen 6 nav anyway).
Are you putting the files in a folder structure so you can go Artist > Album > track? That would make it much easier to find a specific track. That said, bluetooth streaming and using your phone's interface is so much better than any USB setup.
I don't have the USB/iPod interface as I have one of the earlier 2010 production units and don't plan to add one (It's $200-$300 up here!). My folder structure is just playlists as I figured if I wanted to play a certain artist, I just tell the iPhone to "Play Artist blah blah" and it would play all their songs.
For Me, I just dump the music I want onto a USB and play there. I let the system random do the rest for me. Different strokes for different folks. Although I will say I don't want the phone to do it, cause I noticed when notifications go off, the music is interrupted and didn't like that.
6 cd changer player is fitted in my car not know which model or company ..!! i will check and let you know ..!!
There is no cassette on Prius for 2012. There is also no CD "multidisc changer" on any 2012 Prius model. Toyota's moved to the Enune system for all Prius models. These are cars with USB ports for music, aux jacks, and bluetooth music streaming capbility. Pandora too.
Uhm... that's probably because you own a Prius from 2003... This is the Prius v (wagon) forum, which only came out around 2011-2012, which a lot of the 2010+ cars don't use CD changers.
Actually I have found that the $20 iPod interface works OK on a 2011 Prius, with a 30-pin iPod (newer iPods/phones would need an adapter, also available).
My 2004 Prius V (upper case V) came with a cassette slot and a CD slot. It's been a long time since I have played a cassette in it though. Bill the Old Technology Geek
My last car had a six CD changer. It was a hassle to change the cd's, so I rarely did. Currently I use a 64GB thumb drive, I only have 25GB of music so far, but I have more CD's to rip. I can look up by song, album, or artist. Plus I can go to all music. Hence if I want I can turn on shuffle for a given artist or all of my music. But I usually listen to all of the albums for a given artist or a specific artist. The interface is fine with me. The only thing that I don't like is when I am listening to the radio, turn off the car and then turn it back on again it goes back to USB even though I was listening to the radio. Maybe someone knows how to change that behavior.
or an eight track ? Seriously though, no need for cds at all really, you can play music from an iPad, iPod, any mp3 player, any phone or just a memory stick with the Prius.
