^ Versa sedan sells for a few $K below its competitors' prices, which makes me think it has to be a less advanced vehicle: finesse isn't free. Color should play a role, although perhaps only secondary to the vehicle size as far as its "noticeability" (if there is such a word). I'd imagine a bright colored auto would be easier to spot against the background? I guess what I was curious about was not the likelihood of surviving an accident, but the probability of getting into one vs. the noticeability of a given auto.
In 2012, my mom bought a brand new Versa (their so-called $10k model w/ auto tranny) and flipped it upside down in an alley next to a gas station in her 2nd month of ownership. She's got decades of driving experience, including a 120 mile daily commute for 12 years (each way was 60mi). To this day, he swears up and down that the accelerator got stuck and caused the accident. On another note, I think people tend to "tune out" or discriminate against Prius's in general. I've had more close calls in the c than with my Lexus CT. I've actually experienced LESS "bullying" when driving the Lexus compared to the c. My sister has a v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) wagon and she says the same thing compared to driving her Maxima. The wagon is huge, but people see a Prius and immediately want to pass it or prove some kind of point. For my c, I installed a brake light modulator, so that at least helped with the tailgating. Good luck to the OP.
Yep two accidents in 6 months and lots of close calls with this car. In 4 years of owning a truck I didn't have as many problems. Oh well. It was a great car! Great for my wallet too but that's about it.
Good Luck. Looks like The Prius c, did a good job of protecting you. It's too bad your ownership experience wasn't longer lasting or more peaceful. I can understand though, sometimes after a traumatic experience you just want change.
IMHO it might be the color. It is one of those things when your eyes see it but brain doesn't register b/c it is so absurd. They say that natives looked and didn't see Columbus ship just b/c their eyes did not recognize it.
How did that happen. Someone cut in front of you? like changed lane in front of you? Never knowingly keep pace or stay in that blind spot. Your just asking for trouble. My wife has per collision sensors. The tell you when someone is in your blind spot. The high tech cars today perhaps would have let you know of ahead of this result.
I am glad you are Ok. Yeah, you have almost no chance to avoid an accident in this situation. Interestingly , all new "distance collision prevention" tech will be worthless in the case this. Your maybe only chance to avoid the collision was to get quickly into a left lane. And I will second that any Prius not just PC is a really a trouble magnet on a road in a sense that everyone is trying to pass you , even when you driving at a speed of a traffic flow.
I totally agree with your MOM, better SUE Nissan, the PEDAL could get stuck! 4/7 NHTSA probes Nissan Versa for potential pedal problem NHTSA probes Nissan Versa for potential pedal problem
