After searching for months, I finally found a blizzard pearl prius v with the beige or oak or bisque interior and purchased it last week. 2013 Toyota prius v five atp blizzard pearl/oak.
The previous owner had put a clear "wrap" on the bumper & the hood. Apparently, the dealership tried to take off the one on the bumper and when they did, the paint came off too - so they are repainting the bumper for us.
Evidently, there is also a clear plastic wrap on the hood that they did not attempt to remove. Does anyone have any experience with this? What do I need to know about it?
Also need to know what the tire pressure should be for front & rear tires for optimum mileage. Please respond if you have a recommendation.
Also would like to know if I need to bother taking it to a Toyota dealer for a paid computer check since I'm purchasing from a Nissan dealer or if I should just trust that this car is ready to go?
Also which kind of heavy-duty mats are best?
    Any tips appreciated.
We generally keep our cars for many years & I suspect that this one will be a part of our family.

All I can tell you is that on my previous vehicle, a 2010 Honda Fit, I had a clear bra installed on the front. It was a 3M product. I was told at the time that if I ever wanted to remove it, it would be removable without doing any damage to the paint or vehicle.

In my case, the clear bra was nearly invisible, and I do think it helped protect the front hood from getting chips. The "care" for the 3M product was to simply treat it as part of the car, wash and wax as per normal.

The only think I noticed, and adjusted was that if I waxed along the edge of the film I could get a wax line. So I took extra care when waxing along this edge.

Also I once got some "bird defecation" on the clear bra, and was disappointed when it stained the clear bra. Even though I cleaned it off as
quickly as possible, I still ended up having to have a detailer buff the stain out. The argument at the time was that the clear bra protected the paint from damage. But? I was disappointed that it clouded and stained in doing so. It took a professional with a buffer and some "chemicals" to get it clear again.

I decided NOT to have a clear bra installed on the Prius, even though my experience was that I think it did help in protection.

I'm surprised that in removing whatever was on your vehicle it caused damage. Not knowing exactly what product it is, makes it hard to give an opinion. I think there are different grades of quality.

If you don't mind the look? If it's still clear, a clear wrap can add protection. If it's started to discolor or peel? I think I'd ask to have it removed by a professional and then have the area professionally repainted if needed.

I don't think you need to do anything special for the hood protector, except don't try to remove it. I'll wager that the bumper won't be an exact color match when they're done with it.
1st thing I'd do is go buy a set of Michelin Energy Saver A/S for it, and pump them up to 40psi. But that's me, I really hate OEM tires.
Take it to the Toyota dealer for an oil change and let them do their usual inspection and diagnostic routine. Don't assume it has had proper oil changes in the past, or that the correct oil was used.
I like the WeatherTech floor and cargo liners. Far superior to any "mat".

Tire pressures are a matter of the balance between comfort and mileage, and that is an individual choice, I'm afraid you will just have to experiment.

I'll bet if you walk into the parts counter and ask what sort of a discount on the Weathertech mats they will give you as a new Toyota owner .... I did.

Tires to 40 front, 38 rear.

Do nothing about buying tires yet and see what sort of MPGs you get. Of course that assumes you have good tread depth left, right and center on all 4 tires and no cupping you can hear or feel.

I like knowing what sort of service a car has received so I know what and when my next service should be. To that end, an oil change and an alignment check with a printout of the resultant values the next time the dealer has a "deal" would be my approach.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I did buy the car sight unseen. I think that the interior is bisque but I am not sure – The color interior listed on the Toyota documents is oak. Have rechecked the photos and it does look like bisque to me which of course, we prefer over grey.
I did buy the car on the Internet from a Nissan dealer. It has new tires in the brand name of Capital.
I will get the tire pressures adjusted & a printout of the alignment.
    Will check back.
Also plan to take it to the Toyota dealer there for an oil change & a check.

Okay - new questions regarding the Prius v five or v5 with at package or atp advanced technology package: how do I know that my premium hdd navigation system & entune are up-to-date with the most recent navigation information and entune?
if it is not up-to-date - how do we update them? Does the premium hdd denso system with the atp also use a dongle like the navigation system on the 3 and regular 5?

Alright, I get to help someone with Adv. tech. pkg. (ATP) instead of confusing someone with Display Audio.

I recently updated the Entune firmware on my 2012 prius v (wagon) w ATP by turning the car on, watching the Entune App on my iPad connect to vehicle, touch "Apps" on the main menu screen. Then the vehicle's Entune says "checking for update", and the "Do you want to upgrade, Y or N", I pressed Y and in a few minutes the update is complete and the new Entune starts up.

I used to think that the update was downloaded via the Emergency - SOS cellphone component, but now I think it is through the iPad/Android using my home wifi.

I tried pressing No to the update once and it went back to main menu instead of starting Entune apps on the vehicle. So it's really "Do you want to upgrade or not use Entune"

Once you have Entune up and running on the your vehicle, press the upper left Toyota logo to show the Entune sw/firmware version number (only works with ATP)

    Enjoy.

Thank you, kindly for sharing your expertise on this matter. Sounds like my update is in the clouds afterall & I won't have to mess with finding and/or paying for the dongle I've been reading about. Somewhere, I read that entune is now free from Toyota that initially was only offered free for 3 years. They've had a change of heart & decided to keep it free, which I think is kinda nice! I can't wait to get our prius v & listen to some good music!

New Question: How does the navigation system update on the Prius v five ATP - Priusv5atp?
Is it something that can be done with a wi-fi connection like the Entune update or do I have to purchase something for the upgrade?

New question: Does it matter what type of fuel - gasoline that we use? Should it be regular or premium? Does ethanol content affect anything? How about gasoline with fuel-additives, like Costco gas which is known to have detergents?
Our Toyota sienna loves the Costco gasoline with the extra detergents and we are over 180k & going strong.
    Any answers or tips appreciated!

Navigation updates are done through the dealer. It's hard-drive-based so they'll have a USB stick that you purchase and they'll install it for you.

Regular is fine. For best recorded mileage, no ethanol but if your area sells E10, that's fine. The mileage will just look worse since you're calculating based on a full tank (100%) but really you only had 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol.

None on ebay today - although I did see the lexus usb dongle for $50. Apparently it's hit or miss.
If anyone has one they'd like to sell, with instructions, please let me know. Thanks.

Seabone, what vehicle are you updating nav maps on?

Post #2 here has update instructions; 2013 Prius v Map HDD Navigation/Firmware Update When? | PriusChat

Toyota has gone ultra protective with Nav updates and requires a license key from toyota corporate servers. I have heard of an under the table foreign website that can help with this step. It just seems like a new-ish Garmin with lifetime maps would be a good solution.

2013 Toyota prius v five atp needs navigation update. Will be watching ebay for the dongle.
Next question: Is it okay to go through the car wash & have wax added to the car wash - even though I have the prius v5atp "glass-like" moonroof? There was a sticker on mine from the inside that says not to use wax so I'm perplexed about it. Seems to me that any drive through car wash would apply wax all over the car, including that section of the roof. So far I've been careful not to choose that option at the car wash although I would like to if it would be okay for the moonroof.

It's because the roof is essentially plastic. (polycarbonate). Even if it's glass, you don't typically apply wax to it anyway (but yeah those car wash wax is ok on glass but not recommended on polycarbonate). Not all car washes include wax as part of the basic package. It's usually an add-on to the higher car wash packages or as an a la carte option.

I'm a bit skeptical when the car, sight unseen, needs a paint job because of a clear wrap that didn't come off. If the wrap was put on to protect the car and it's clear......there's really no reason to remove it. To me this sounds like this car had a fender bender and is getting painted before it's sold. As other's have said, the bumper color probably won't match so they are covered by telling you it's been painted.
