i understand the disc player plays DVDS. The only way to watch is w parking brake on. Audio only while driving. Pardon this blonde moment but why have it? Can u add moniters to the back seats and passenger gets to watch? Really do not understand its purpose. Is there a workaround?
In most states it is illegal to have a tv, dvr or other visual device(s) that can be viewed from the front seat when the vehicle is in motion. I do watch movies when i am waiting for someone who is shopping....not worth the effort to work around it....
It's basically a feature you can use while waiting for your passenger(s) as a driver. To be honest, in this day and age, they're still offering DVD players (either in-dash or rear entertainment systems in minivans)?? The only car I know of that offers Blu-Ray players (and it was only a recent addition) is the LS460 (optional in one of the packages). I know some minivans have bypassed Blu-Ray. They still offer DVD but have an HDMI input (e.g. Honda Odyssey) to view other sources like tablets and phones.
I don't think the DVD playback was advertised. It was enabled in the US in the refresh. The purpose is to be able to play DVDs. You can use my speedlock override.
