I am looking at purchasing a Mini VCI, and am a little unclear as to what the requirements are. I have a netbook running Windows 7 Starter version, 32-bit. I also have a work laptop with Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit. Will either of these be compatible with the current version of Mini VCI, does anyone know? Are there different brands and verisions of Mini VCI around- if so what is recommended? Thanks very much.
The requirement is for Windows XP or Windows 7, 32 bit OS. A Toyota Tundra forum published a workaround to allow use of Windows 7, 64 bit OS. However I personally was not able to get that to work for me, so I bought Windows 7 32 bit OS to run on my MacBook Pro. There are different versions of Mini VCI around. Not really different "brands" as they all come from China. I don't recommend loading the pirated software on a computer used for work or home banking, who knows what viruses or bugs are present. This is what I bought: It works well for me, who knows whether it will work in your environment.
My question is with windows 64 bit installation...With techstream open,to connect to prius i have only one choice. i have to "auto vehicle select", "manual select" is in code. I selected English for language through the entire setup process. i was wondering if the problem is with the device driver firmware? Some people have reported that updating firmware on this “cheap clone” cable may render it dead. So, the Firmware Update Tool should NOT be used for anything, but checking that the device is connected and working properly. The manual vehicle connection wizard shows for prius (model code "NHW") and (vehicle spec "1NZFXE") hopefully there is a techstream computer expert that can help?
This is normal... after the connection is confirmed the software identifies the car and provides that information. Is that not the car that you are connected to?
installed on a windows xp machine model code reads toyota and vehicle spec prius. installed on a windows 7 64bit model code reads NHW and vehicle sped 1NZFXE ps on a windows xp machine the vin# is automatically detected and entered under optional information.
People who have gone the 64Bit Windows route, said this helped them out. (Solution) Mini VCI + Toyota TIS Techstream 8.x on Windows 7/8 64-bit. - Toyota 4Runner Forum - Largest 4Runner Forum
No... I mean what car are you trying to connect to? Your status does not identify the car you have and I didn't see where you identified the vehicle you are working on. No disrespect... It may be obvious to others but I honestly do not understand the problem you're having. Is the problem you can't get to the next screen where you can select the various test? When I first received my interface I missed a few steps in the registry settings and had to go back and review the configuration stuff. Once I got that corrected... it worked. Perhaps you are having a similar problem. Can you post some screen shots of the interface settings?
