    Hi Dave,
I must have been one of my twins :D . I live in Southern California.

There was a post a couple days ago asking "What is the most popular Prius color?". I was contemplating responding "Silve Pine Mica" but I didn't think I would get a lot of agreement on that. It's the one for me!

If anyone is reading this and is interested:
I have two premium tickets to the Long Beach Grand Prix today if anyone wants them. Someone would have to be in my area and I could meet you to give them to you.

Was it an even trade or did you need to add any money?

I really thought Consumer Reports made a mistake comparing the Prius to a Corolla. I thought the Camry would be a more appropriate comparison. Now that I read your post, I think that (although it does fall woefully short), the Porsche IS the best comparison to the Prius.

I agree with an earlier post, something is rotten in Denmark.

wow Fred!!! awesome offer... wish you would have said something earlier... i would have been sorely tempted to drive down. went to one about 20 years ago when i lived in OC. its a great way to spend an afternoon.

although i wondered about some of the premium seating... heard some horror stories about wrecks, oil slinging, and ringing ears!!

I usually have extra tickets but I wasn't sure this year otherwise I would have posted earlier. The CART race doesnt start until later in the day today and the SPEED Challenge GT race doesn't start until the end of the day, so if someone doesn't mind last minute offers, come and get em.

You need earplugs which we have at our hospitality suite for free. As far as oil and wrecks, its is safe.

Because honestly, I can put the extra $3,000 a month into better use instead of watching an exotic sports car rusting outside in space I don't have. I originally got the Porsche because of it's looks. It was sort of the end goal of a traditional car buying journey (until a non traditional journey finally became feasible). The driving part was fun at first. But it was like dating a hot model, all sex, no brains. You know that old saying: for every hot girl, there's someone sick of doing her.

I guess there's a few people here who doubt me. Even some of my friends thought I was nutty doing it - are you broke, etc? I just really enjoy the Prius more than the Porsche. I admit, I am not a car enthusiast. I just want to get from A to B comfortably - and the option 8 prius has the luxury features of a lexus with the great convenience of only filling up once every two weeks. I think you can compare a Porsche and a Prius. I did when I bought my Prius. Ungodly amounts of speed mean very little when most of modern driving happens in the city, or stuck in traffic, watching the gas meter go down and calculating the next time I'm going to have to pull over and take time out of my day to fill up.

As to weekend racing or going on a track, I'd rather go hiking or read a book. It's not a compromise, it's a happy preference. Of course, the feeling of having a better conscience of doing just a little part to help the environment is really cool.

And now I guess I'm just like that South Park episode: full of smug. Oh well.

I thought you might be interested in this.

I started looking into the Prius about a year ago and had collected a lot of good info in that year or so of research. This January 2, 2006 I got my Barcelona Red beauty. I started getting inquires. Why this, what that etc. So, I had all this neat info all in one folder of my computer and decided to cherry pick all the neat good stuff and print it out. I then organized it in a 3 ring binder. However, I never was able to come up with ONE good concise set of verbage on why anyone should buy a Prius. That is until today. I have printed your Post #1 and have it neatly tucked into my 3 ring info booklet. It's about an inch thick now but your post is Page #1.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    Cheers to Prius

Oh come on...this is ridiculous. If you think your Prius is a "better car" than your 911 Turbo you were never interested in or capable of appreciating the type of machine a 911 Turbo is. The Prius is an appliance for driving from point A to point B. Yes its neat, yes its cool, yes its high tech but its a tool. A 911 Turbo is a vehicle for an enthusiast, someone who truly appreciates a fine machine and driving. Its not about getting places and its not about style, its about driving.

I like the Prius too, but lets be real.

    Hi Fred,

Glad you are enjoying the car - I remember what you went through a few weeks ago. I sometimes take my motorcycle, a Suzuki GSXR-1000, one of the fastest motorcycles, through your neighborhood in PV - more interesting riding than my town, Man Bch. (But I am careful in the neighborhoods.) Although the comparison is apples and oranges, I really enjoy the Prius more.

My friend who lives near there has some weirdo motorcycle called a "hiyabusa" or something like that. It is a fast one? I think I'd go for a cruiser myself. Something I could just throw a leg over and ride a thousand miles. That's my idea of a vacation.

The Hiyabusa is a Suzuki that is very fast. Faster off the line than mine, but not as maneuverable in turns. Actually designed for cruising, but with performance. I have had a number of bikes including a Harley for cruising, but missed the performance of the sportbikes.

Hey John, We should get a local group of Prius owners for a Saturday cup of joe. There is a coffee house on Paseo Del Mar where the Ferrari boys meet up. We can show them what a real car is like

    Fred,

Good idea. They could guess what else we have in our garages that take second place to the Prius :)

Works for me. :) They're both amazing automobiles, just optimized for different things, that's all.

Well, you are comparing a $80k stock viper plus all the addons...to a stock $10k bike.
Why don't u trying racing a few turbo bikes (ie 500whp busa, even tho i hate them because they are ugly..)
As for the track, I dont know there are some 600cc bikes like the r6 or 1000cc bikes like the r1 that are very track worthy..
Plus a bike has 2 wheels, a car has 4 which is more stable.
It takes a lot more skill driving on a track with a bike than a car...
