I had a customer that wanted a PIP charge port installed into his Gen2 Prius with our aftermarket 17kwh Nissan LEAF battery pack (~50 mile range!) so we got a genuine G3 PIP port from a salvage yard and did some bodywork to make it look as factory as we could. Can a PIP owner please confirm how the LEDs in the charge port are supposed to work? I made the illumination LED at the top come on as the door opens then go off when J1772 plugs in to the port. I have the charging LED to the left of the J1772 come on Orange and stay Orange until the cable is unplugged. What does the real G3 PIP do? Does the charging LED change color or go off once fully charged?
Cool. Looks good. As for the light, it comes on when you first plug it in, and then is on only when it's charging. If you have the timer set, the LED will shut off, and then come on when it starts charging. Once the charging is finished, the LED will shut off.
I think you've got it right. The white LED is just to help you find the fitting. The yellow one means charging. Everything is off after it's done.
Yellow light means it's charging, yellow light off means not charging (or done charging). While LED is used when the door is opened to line up the plug, and turns off when charging begins or if doors are locked I believe.
