The wife and I want to add a louder Horn. Suggestions? Air Horns are way loud, maybe overkill. Anything out there for sale that is between a train horn and the stock horn we have now?

    Thanks in advance you'll.

There is an excellent horn upgrade thread in the Gen 3 section, link in my signature below.

Hopefully someone will chime in whether this upgrade can be done on your Gen 2.

Another possibility would be to install used parts from a Camry - if you think the Camry horn sound is better.

Owning both a Camry, and a Prius with the FIAMM freeway blaster dual horn upgrade, I can say that the sound is indeed very similar.

Check my signature for Harbor Freight horns. Simple mod and a nice price.

Anything is better than factory horns.. those should not be legal! As in they do not meet the minimum decibels needed to get someone's attention.

Oh.. and I went with Fiamms.. Still not loud enough IMHO but way better than stock.

These work well and room is not a problem behind the bumper.
2 Piece 12 Volt Electric Horn Set I wired the two horns together and plugged in the original horn wire and they work fine without the relay. If you plan to be in a lot of wedding parades, the relay might be needed.

What about a Train Horn? I know they are not legal but being alive is more important than a $75 noise citation. I live in a large city with horrendously bad driving, Miami.

I tried posting a link to the Horn but could not - against the rules.

I added these FIAMM El Grandes to my daughter's 2008. They were super simple to install and sound great. Just bought another pair to install on my son's 2007 Scion tC.

    Found a few online ....
    Stebel
    FIAMMM el grande
    Wolo Big Bad Max

But I'd rather go to a local auto parts store and purchase.

I actually got my FIAMM horns from my local NAPA autoparts store, because Amazon wouldn't ship one of the two horns to Hawaii for some reason, at the time.

Possible someone can give me a link some how to a good set of horns? I drive 130-150+ miles a day, hints why prius. And I'm so sick and tired of these, lovely, cough cough, people cutting me off and my horn doesn't even scare a puppy. If a train horn will fit then I'm down. My budget, like to keep no more than $75. I'm afraid to just buy a set on amazon without real insight of option. I want people to jump when they cut me off next time. I drive the 60, 10, 15, 210, 57, 71. And each one of those I want to push someone into the wall for cutting me off and I'm not driving like a grandma. Thanks

i know alllllll those roads, and remember well the mentality of that commute group. at the time, i had a 1982 honda civic...cute little thing until a semi hit me.

anyway, this is my suggestion, heavy duty shock absorbers AND train horn.

go right to the best solution.

when i'm in the blue egg, all sorts of cars, especially trucks, ride REALLY close. myth busters already proved that drafting less than 5 ft is not fuel efficient. lol. when i drive my truck, i get a very generous berth on all sides.

i do think that there is sometimes an arrogance against the prius on our roads.

Can we really fit a train horn under of the hood? I've never seen one before. I was playing last night on here, I guess my prius Is 3rd Gen, 2011. Is a prius 2. With a train horn, could I get in trouble for honking it at someone who is cutting me off? Because of the loudness... also where would I get one at?

a real train horn is about 4' long. not gonna fit. but an air horn is doable.

that nautilus looks like the ticket. how does it sound?

Everywhere I look they are saying mhz db Whatever. I never got into sound waves that much to know what's what. I heard once what sounded like an air horn on a truck that transported vehicles and it made me jump 5 feet in the air because I wasn't expecting him to honk it after I helped him load up the cars. I want a horn like that. Something that makes people look around and think twice like they just cut off a big rig and to get back over and don't come back. I need help finding the right one. I'm kind of thinking about hitting up a pick a part and taking a set of wires and hopefully find a battery to test on before buying. I read over gmc Suv have good stock horns

    On amazon I found
SUPER LOUD Stebel Nautilus Compact Twin Air Horn; Universal for Cars, Trucks, Boats, ATVS, Motorcycles and Scooters
it says 139db. Then I found below that a mini compressor with a t valve and 2 air horns that says 115db. My guess 139 Would be louder Than 115. Any help?

Idk If can share you tube video. But this is what I'm looking for if someone knows what it is
