I hope not in a bad connotation! I certainly do not want to impart my opinion on anyone as *the* opinion.

Yes & no. BMW acquired the rights to the MINI name and turned it into a brand (It also acquired Rolls-Royce and Bentley and then sold off Bentley to VWAG). So for BMW, they're lucky enough that they don't have to create a sub-brand. They just have to create the MINI brand by reviving the icon Austin Mini.

They're getting rid of the Roadster and Coupe versions by the end of this year.

Well in light of the other thread about moderators not being visible....

    Stay on topic please! :)

Hi Tideland, I am sorry it took a few days to get back. No, I meant nothing negative. I like reading your post, and feel you are a terrific moderator. I only meant that no one had posted after your post.

OTOH, there really isn't much to write regarding the subject of this thread. Toyota's silence leaves their fans nothing to write about . That explains why we keep getting off on tangents.

Keep up the good work, and hopefully, the day will come when there will be pertinent information. Perhaps, the 2017 "New G4?"

Yup, come on Toyota! Give us something to talk about. A little leak. Something to create excitement and hope! Can't you see the depression setting in?

Did Toyota publish engineering paper about Prius engine over at SAE?

    New York Autoshow April 3 - 12, 2015, in 3 weeks,
Either a concept with some tech details to calm things down a bit, and production version for Tokyo Motor show.
or a dedicated plug-in in NY. I expect to see something in NY.

You can't imagine how hard it is for us to not chime in here with some really fun details. We are totally planning on taking part in a great convo (and catching up on this thread and all the hypotheses) just as soon as we can. Promise!!!

    You got it.....

We at Prius Team are all staring at an amazing 4th Gen vehicle in high-resolution on a big screen here at HQ. Wow, just .... wow.

    Discuss.

We just need a low resolution version. :)

Any concept art that can be shared?

Doug, are you hiring? I'm a degreed machine design engineer with 35+ years experience in and out of the motor vehicle industry and 6 patents. I'd be happy to do road tests in Central Ohio just to see a Gen IV early!

Just to be clear, Doug, right about now we all hate you a little. But in a loving kind of way.
Not Erica, though. Nothing but good vibes there.

Wow what? Looks? Performance? Efficiency? Capabilities? What?

I've been planning for this for a while. Toyota has already lost one sale to me (I wanted a 7 seat Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) and bought a Mazda5 instead because Toyota took too long - thanks for that by the way, saved me $20k) so I'd like to know when we're going to know about what's happening with the Prius line. New liftback only? Plug in? v? c? What can we expect and when can we expect it?

WOW, wow is right. It's amazing. Good thing I planted that camera at HQ some time back, in the red stapler on your desk. :D

Well come on then. I bought my 2010 in May of 09 and have almost 200k on it. I am ready for a new one now. Lets get the next gen out soon.

Thanks for that. For me, it's enough just to know you aren't hiding under your chairs for some speculated reason. ;)

Of course, Pearl S has only 18,000 km on her, so I won't be buying just yet. Well, unless I manage to tear out the undersides of Pearl S - our back alley has 4" deep ruts in the ice, which I have to cross leaving and returning to the garage. Each time the underside resounds with a plasticy "crunch" as the wheels drop into the ruts and the body strikes the ice (cringe).
The FJ "dogtracks" down the alley, front wheels out of the ruts, rear in them - even in 4WD. ;)

The glaciers are receding, just not fast enough.

It is great to hear from Prius Team again. Hopefully this is the first of many leaks.

I remember that active Priuschat members were offered a deal at the introduction of the gen III Prius. I joined the forum just after that deal was offered so I don't know how good a deal it was. Any chance of a deal this time to tempt us to trade up?

It's been a while since they were caught testing Prius with a new dome roof (btw), dressed in Armadillo suit. :D

What was the deal? And was this US only? I'm not in the US, and I just got my Plug-in Prius yesterday so it will be a while before I upgrade, but I'm just curious.

I think the deal was that those who bought the brand new Gen3 when it came out got to lord it over those who didn't. Post pictures, tell everyone how great it was, etc.

Those of us holding on to our Gen2s quickly put those people on our "ignore" list.

Discuss what? Speculate on what type of high res monitor you are using ;P

I know, hush hush and all.
Can you tell us when the 4th Gen will be shown?
We would all love any information you can give us.
At this point, even telling us when you will be showing us would be earth shattering news.
