I'm brand-new to the PIP, and am wondering how important it is to detach the charger immediately after the car is fully charged. Is it bad to leave the charger connected to the car much longer that it needs to charge? (I'm using the charger cable that comes with the car - haven't installed a unit yet.) 2nd question: I know I can set start and stop times for charging by using the Charging Timer Switch ... but is there also an iOS app that will do this? Or do I need to install a charging station to do this? Thanks in advance.
Charger can stay in indefinitely, though, according to Toyota (RTFM?), the car should not be left in a fully-charged condition for an extended period if you want the longest battery service life. The Toyota Entune app lets you start and stop the charging manually, but not alter the timer. I don't know of anything that can do that remotely.
Just don't rush to disconnect, do it when convenient. The 12V battery is also 'tickled' whilst plugged in which will keep it in good condition.
The 12V battery is only recharged when the car is charging the main battery too. Once the charging session completes, the 12V is no longer being "tickled" as you say, so it doesn't matter.
If you don't have a definitive answer, and until you do, a good stop-gap answer: What are the odds that the manufacturer would design the product so that it could be damaged by such an action, something that's bound to happen time and time again.
