There is a new fuel coming out here in Florida called EcoFlex96. Its 85% methanol and 14% gasoline. It is certified by the EPA to give you 10% more power and MPG. It is also cost's a lot less than gasoline.

Has anyone else heard of this? BTW, it also is certified to reduce CO2 by 70+%.

Here's the announcement from November 2014. That's also when the stock hit it's all time high of $3.15 per share.

CyberFuels, Inc.'s EcoFlex 96(TM) Approved for Sale in Florida - Yahoo Finance

ECSL trades OTC on Pink Sheets. Do you hear the warning bells and sirens?

Encountercare (ECare) Solutions - De-Boosting This Energy Promotion - eCare Solutions, Inc. (OTCMKTS:ECSL) | Seeking Alpha paints a less rosy picture. I haven't read the entire article because I'm not registered.

U.S. Energy Initiatives Explains Singular 96â„¢ Brand -- SANTA CLARITA, Calif., June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- states they were trying to sell this stuff in Canada in 2012.

The product is also supposedly certified for sale in California.

In my opinion, companies trading on pink sheets are little more than scams. Some two years later and I can't find a link where the product can be bought. The only people that are going to profit from this venture are the original principals.

Can methanol be used as a fuel? Yes. Are there enough FlexFuel vehicles on the road in a given location to make distribution of the product competitive with gasoline? I don't know. Can this company make a profit producing, marketing or selling the fuel? No.

Just exactly WHERE did you get this pathetically incorrect information ?? Where ever it was, you should stop reading stuff there........or at least stop passing it along as though it is truthful.

Excerpts from the above linked article:
"However, only relatively small changes need to be made to a gasoline fueling station (linings and seals in tanks, pumps, dispensers, ...)

(that is, you need about 1.7 gallons of M85 to get the same driving range as one gallon of gasoline,

Methanol is more corrosive than gasoline "

I do not think that changing the liners in underground fuel tanks is a "relatively small" task.

The statements about it giving better mileage are also blatantly untrue.

This has been studied for YEARS by a multitude of scientists and it just doesn't appear to be practical or economical. Anyone who is representing it as an emerging industry is just perpetrating a scam.

Here is the EPA certification test results.
FYI, I had this fuel in my 370Z and its amazing. I was just wondering if anyone else ever used an M85 fuel.

    Its already approved for Florida.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL--(Marketwired - Nov 17, 2014) - EncounterCare Solutions, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: ECSL) CyberFuels, Inc., a subsidiary of EncounterCare Inc., is pleased to announce that the company's new EcoFlex 96â„¢ has been approved as an alternative flex fuel methanol by the state of Florida, Division of Consumer Services.

The product will be labeled for flex fuel vehicles only in accordance to 16 CFR Part 306.12 of state regulations.

"This is a significant milestone for the company and we've worked diligently to ensure the necessary capacity to satisfy Florida's demand is in place," stated Ron Mills, Sr. "We have already had initial talks with fuel distributors and gas station owners in Florida regarding the sale of EcoFlexâ„¢ at their retail outlets and are hopeful that the Company will obtain purchase orders in the coming weeks and months.

"We have had our product independently certified by globally accredited independent labs. The recent MPG test on EcoFlexâ„¢ fuel methanol, conducted at Olson Ecologic Labs in California, demonstrated that our premium fuel methanol produces 9.8% Interurban mileage improvement compared to regular gasoline and is significantly cheaper at the pump."

Mills further added that, "With the recent announcement by the Obama Administration, that the U.S. along with the Government of China will work together to reduce Greenhouse Emissions by 25 %, we believe EcoFlex96â„¢ is positioned to play a role in achieving these goals.

"CyberFuels is continuing to work with the state of California to have EcoFlex96â„¢ as an approved flex fuel for that market as well."

Here is more on the EPA certification.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL--(Marketwired - Oct 31, 2014) -EncounterCare Solutions, Inc.'s (PINKSHEETS: ECSL) subsidiary,CyberFuels, Inc., is pleased to announce that Olsen Ecologic Engine Testing Laboratories, anEPA certified laboratory, headquartered in Fullerton, California, has independently tested and certified the results of Singular 96â„¢ in the areas of Performance, Miles Per Gallon and Exhaust Emissions. The results of these tests can be viewed on the CyberFuels, Inc. web site WWW.CYBERFUELSINC.COM.

Tom Gleason, Sr., VP of CyberFuels, Inc., stated that he believes that, "CyberFuels, Inc. has created and perfected the ultimate synthesis in alternative fuels." Mr. Gleason further stated, "That the results of the Olsen Ecologic Lab tests confirms that SINGULAR 96â„¢ OUT PERFORMS GASOLINE IN THE AREAS OF MPG, TORQUE AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. Unlike traditional M85 fuel, which has a low MPG ratio, Singular 96â„¢ produced 19.76 MPG City and 28.63 MPG Hwy compared to regular gasoline which only produced 17.98 MPG City and 27.05 MPG Hwy using the same test vehicle under the same conditions."

Ron Mills, Sr., further added, "The Olsen Laboratory test results will be forwarded to both California and Florida. CyberFuels, Inc. has already been in contact with both respective state agencies in charge of fuels sales in regard to the use of Singular 96â„¢ in those states and we expect to see Singular 96â„¢ available in those markets very soon."

Mr. Mills went on to state, "Methanol Fuel has attracted interest from countries trying to manage high fuel costs and ever rising global co2 levels. In countries such as China methanol fuel is a staple and use is expected to expand dramatically as that country moves towards methanol as the fuel of choice. Other countries, such as Australia and Israel are undertaking new programs for methanol as an alternate fuel. With the boom in natural gas production, methanol fuels are now in the global spotlight. We anticipate that the use of CyberFuels products in these countries will be expedited by the completion and conclusions of these tests."

That's interesting I did not know Methanol was close to being offered in FL and CA.

...sounds like we have a discrepancy in the MPG information. Generally with alcohol you get way less MPG than gaso, so you need to burn a lot more, so on that basis it could be more expensive per mile than gasoline. And Jimbo's article says M85 is way less MPG than gasoline, as we might expect. However, the marketing claims are that it makes better MPG...this is the issue in our discussion. I don't see how the claim makes any sense except I realize you can re-design a car engine for methanol fuel to run better MPG. But nobody has a methanol car.

The biggest benefit could be cheaper than gasoline, at the inconvenience of more frequent fill-ups. but at the current gaso low prices, not sure. They are a day late and a dollar short, unless the price of gaso goes back up.

I'm not suggesting that you take my word on it but it has been tested by the EPA and they said it gives 10% better milage. As I have said, I have tried this in another one of my cars and it does work. I was just wondering what Toyota's take on this was.

The manual says not to use any fuel with more than 15% ethanol. If you want to use fuel with 85% ethanol, then feel free to try it at your own risk. Some members on here have used it, though not long term as far as I'm aware and they all seem to be in warm States where cold starting isn't a particular issue.

    1) good because until you give a baseline, we can't even guess what 10% better means. 10% better than the 70% worse that science predicts 85% methanol/15% gasoline will get? 10% better than 100% methanol?
Energy density - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia hints that M100 gets 1/4 the MPG that gasoline does.

    2) Work as in did not immediately fail? Work as in you drove it 200,000 miles?

    3) No one from Toyota posts here. Very occasionally some one from US Toyota Marketing will post, but they know less about cars or science than you or I.

And the quote you provided is NOT biased in any way.................give us a break.

Specifically it claims an increase in mileage where the accepted science concludes exactly the opposite......by a wide margin.

Why are you so hyped up on this anyway ?

I have some ocean front property for sale in Arizona too.

    Sigh.
No "the EPA" said no such thing.
At best, an independent lab said that.
At this point, all we know for sure is that YOU said that.
If we believe you, then all we know for sure is that the company promoting M85 said it.
We don't know for sure that claim is anywhere close to being true.

So where did you manage to get the "M85" that you used ?

And I suggest that anybody else who is tempted to get on this bandwagon check with your car maker before trying it out.
IT IS ONLY APPROVED FOR FLEX FUEL VEHICLES......and there is no guarantee that it is safe to use it in all of them.

    HA!

I've been talling people for a few months now that $2 gas isn't especially 'cheap' nor will it substantially hurt hybrid sales.
If there are still people out there tinkering with stuff like this - that rather proves the point, now doesn't it? :D

I'll stick with regular old Regular, thanks.
The meth-heads are wrong about the 10-percent increase in fuel efficiency unless this last DST change also changed the world of math.

Technically speaking I believe some Prius owners use E85 with some modification of the fuel system. It would be an open question if M85 could be similarly used (voiding warranty of course) or would require a little different set up. I am thinking there is an E85 kit or something like that.

Oh I got the wrong end of the stick. What's M85 when it's at home? And what's the difference between it and E85?

    M85 is 85% Methanol 15 gasoline, E85 is 85% Ethanol 15% gasoline.
Both Methanol and Ethanol are Alcohols.
