I have a 2013 Prius 2. The driver's seat is horrible, and I'd like to try putting in a power seat (8-way adjustment vs. 6-way adjustment). My dad had an older Camry and just got the guts from a Camry with a power driver's seat and switched it out. How hard is this to do on the Prius 2? I believe the wire harness is in place on a Prius 2, but I don't know how hard the job would be (as the seat includes air bags). Anyone done this before?
Not hard IF you can find a similar Toyota or Lexus with power seat. But it never came power in a Prius that I'm aware of (100% sure of gen 3, 90% sure of gen 2 lol)
there is a thread here by someone who put a power camry seat in his prius. pics and details included. good fit and not too difficult iirc. all the best!
After 12 years driving a Camry with power seats and 5 of them switching off driving with a woman 10 inches shorter than I, I'm liking the manual seats in my PiP. Reach down and slide. No waiting while the seat goes "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" and slooowly moves back.
One problem in swapping a power seat from a Prius 4 or 5 with the seat from a 2 it that you are going from cloth to leather or softex, now to keep it from looking funny, you should get the rest of the seats....
Behold the NECROMANCER! I printed these PDFs from a Toyota Parts Department website illustrating the difference between the different Prius seats in the 2013 model. I don't know why there are three variations (unless one is for the Prius 1, which is a fleet model). There should only be two as the 2 and 3 are one and the 4 and 5 are another. While the part numbers do vary (I suppose to ensure the correct part for the right assembly is obtained...even if the part is identical across trim levels), I wonder if the mounting brace (attaching the seat to the floor of the cabin) is identical.
sorry, i searched and searched with no luck 'replace prius drivers seat' brought up 10 pages, but he must have used different words. i did find one by member 'priusrick' who put in a lexus ct200h seat.
And I would love to remove the dark grey power softex seat from my 2014 and replace it with a manual dark grey leather seat from 2010-12...
Why? Because of the Softex material? Because of the 10-way power seat? The 6-way manual seat only gives less: No lumbar and NO TILT adjustment. If it's the Softex, I'd think there's a leather kit to fix that. Far as the power Softex driver seat in liftback, I wouldn't buy it. Not the 'type' of comfort I'm looking for.
