After promising new models would ship with CarPlay compatible units, Toyota says it will now stick with their own system. Toyota further backtracks on CarPlay plans in statement to NY Times | 9to5Mac
Another POS auto manufacturer system that kind of work but not really. Is it that hard to ensure compatibility and focus on their core competency?
Entunes work well, I think. I mean its not great, but still it has its uses. I almost bought the Apple car play at best buy and was on the verge of getting it installed but changed my mind. Looks like the Iphone should be plugged in using USB port always. You will then be using the dashboard for all music/maps/messages etc.And a good Apple Car Play was priced at $850 including installation/taxes/cables/Sirius adapters etc etc etc. I ended up keeping Entune but upgrading the speakers instead.I would have liked the HD display of the car play, but I pretty much do everything on entunes(music/maps mainly) that I can do on Apple car play, and Entunes doesn't require the phone to be plugged in.
