So I've always driven old cars. The newest car I'd ever owned was a 1992 Mitsubishi truck. My dad ended up trading in his civic for a new Prius III back in 2012. I laughed at him for the longest time for choosing a Prius, but the first time I actually sat in the car to drive it, I fell in love. That was a while ago but this last weekend I got my very own 2012 Prius to match his! I have already changed the reverse beep to only beep once and the fob to unlock all doors. I absolutely love this car!
I bought an OBD II meter that hooks up to my phone and used an app to send it the correct codes for turning it from a constant beep to a single one. Sadly you can't do no beeps.
I know right? It is part of what truly sold me on the color. I originally was very staunchly against anything but the deep gray but I fell in love with this car.
The used car dealer (who isn't affiliated with any one particular auto maker, anymore) where I got mine had a Super White 2013, a Prius One, a fleet model, presumably it was used as a rental. (Side note: this dealer is the exception to the rule that we won't shop at a used car dealer unless they are affiliated with an automaker...yes, they are that good…good enough that we've bought 4 cars from them. 2 Chevrolets when they were affiliated with GM, my partner's Camry, and now, my Prius. They are reputable and the owner and gen. mgr. are well-respected in the auto dealers community here in central Ohio) I opted for the black one, 2 years older, and about $3000 less. It came in on a day we had the Camry in for an oil change (They didn't even have a chance to get it in the system when we said "work your magic") We couldn't crunch the numbers for the white one, so it was out of the running…but they were able to put together an acceptable deal for us. Taking the chance on the older black one, we got it, and 2 days later, we took it to the closest Toyota dealer (where we have taken the Camry for recall issues), where they pulled the VIN and got me the entire service record (it was a local to Ohio car, purchased in Cleveland and a one-owner car, and based on the service record, the owner babied it)…
Yeah my car had 1 previous owner and its a little high on the milage but I got an absolutely killer deal out of it. I was originally looking at 2010-2011 prii since that was more in my price range, but I ended up getting this one because of the price.
