Frontroe, You beat my 141,000 on my 2012. Are you a courier? Also, what have you done to your car in terms of maintenance and repairs? How many tires and brakes have you gone through?
No I am a auto wholesaler. I travel a to a different auto auction every day in a three state area. I also own an auto shop. The car looks like it has 25k not 250k. The Toyota prius is really an amazing car.
That would imply he does the same mileage every day. It may vary per day, and we don't know if he means every day or every weekday. Also, where did you get 3 years from? Are you also assuming he bought the car new at the start of 2012?
My point is we don't know when he bought the car. He could have bought it new or used in 2013 for all we know. I'm just curious how long each trip is for him on average, and about maintenance/repairs.
what do you do to get 141K on your 2012? Assuming that you got it early that comes to 140mi/day. If it is just a commuter, and you drive it only 5 days a week it is 190mi a day. If you got it in 2013 on closeout it is 1.5 times more, ~280mi. Heck of a commute if you ask me.
It's labeled a commuter because that's what it does now, starting at 133k miles. Before that it was my courier car (which is now my CT). Back then, I was doing 350+ miles every weekday. That is roughly 90k a year. It took me 1.5 years or so to get to 133k miles. And just FYI, still on original brakes, and while I have new tires due to tire punctures, the original tires were at 7/32" at 90k miles (thanks to driving 55 mph on the highway most of the time).
If you dive gently/no heavy braking and live in flat lands I would not worry about brakes. I've seen several Gen2 with 250K with OEM pads on. Which tires did you have fitted OEM?
Thanks! I do not particularly like them, but they got better after 1,200mi, and if they last 60-80K no reason to rush and replace them right away.
I wouldn't call it wasting, but you're probably in minority here.. 12k/year used to be avg annual mileage; I suspect most of Prii buyers drive well above that and that's why they got best MPG car for.
