I have had my 2015 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) for five days and I like it very much except for the touch screen and the GPS.

At one point yesterday, the screen became non-responsive and I could not set the destination address. (Note, car was stopped and in park when I was trying to do this.)
So, I turned on Google maps on my Iphone 6 and tried to use that instead, but could not get audio to play through the car speakers. I had to keep checking the Iphone screen to get directions. The Iphone is paired with the cars bluetooth and the phone worked fine as a phone.
Later, same day, the navigation screen became responsive again and I used the Toyota GPS to direct me to an address in Charlotte, NC. Everything went well for about 30 minutes and then it directed me to take an exit that was not there, absolutely not there, and no sign of recent construction. I figured my own way home and then tried the GPS again. This time it got two street names wrong and Interstate exit directions wrong.

So three problems in one day. Anyone have any suggestions? I particularly would like to get google directions to play through the car speakers because the Google Maps GPS is really good , at least in the area I live in.

This seems to be a known issue among many owners and I would expect the first year of production to have small issues like this. This post highlights some of the things new 2015 Prius v owners have done, which includes visiting the dealership to attempt a "reset" and/or obtaining a replacement head unit.

You'll be amazed just how old the v's maps are even with a new car. Any new road in the last 2 years is liable to confound the system. And it isn't just your area...I went down towards Fayetteville the other day and hit a new intersection that wasn't yet marked and the GPS had no clue existed. Had to guess. Next trip to an address Google Maps knew where it was, the v's GPS routed me 10 miles away and told me I was there while I was looking into a farmer's field. My navigator switched to Google maps and got us there.

You can look on a thread below this one and find out how to determine the date of your map data.

Also, as you follow this area of the forum, you'll see many comments about pairing an Apple product with the Toyota audio system.

I found that I can't hear my paired iPhone 6+ through the car stereo unless the system mode is in "Bluetooth"- that is toggle FM, AM, Blootooth. Kind of inconvenient when listening to FM or AM. Same with iPad.

I also have a 2015v w/atp. I have had many problems with the audio/display. It will frequently change to different FM presets, refuse to display anything other than audio/FM (no gps, phone ,home, etc.), and also locks up in GPS mode. I have taken it to the dealer once and they checked firmware, software levels and said they would have to watch this since they couldn't reproduce. My plan is to return to the dealer every week or two, and report the new occurrences in a new work order. More folks need to report these problems as Toyota maintains they have not had this problem reported.....

I just posted a question in a different thread: Prius v Touch Screen | PriusChat

I *THINK* it might have to do with an Apple iPhone that is connected via both USB and Bluetooth... and I am trying to determine if that is the actual cause of the issues.

My v is the first year model. Now I have the following problems that the dealer said that they could not fix:

    1) All the sudden the GPS (night time) got too dark. I only see the arrow. It seems this is the known issue but there has not been any fix. I use the DAY TIME screen all the time now.The dealer changed the screen but no change. They said that it was supposed to be that dark. Really? I could not even see roads.

    2) Since the screen was swapped, I could not switch back and forth between the GPS and the music screen. Once I changed to the GPS screen, it is all up to the Prius' mood to change back to the music screen.

    3) When I use the washer, the wipers do not come on automatically. I have to manually turn the wipers. Again, this does not happen all the time.

    4) The GPS has gone insane. I was driving on the field not on the street. Also there were 20 miles between where I actually was and where the GPS claimed I was. I turned the engine off just like turning off the computer. But it did not fix it. I do not remember how I fixed it, but it was annoying. Yes, I have to use my iPhone to navigate.

This is my first Toyota, and I am so disappointed as it has so many problems already. I will bring the 30,000-mile service next week. The problem is that the dealer claims that they could not fix anything when the problems are not showing there, even I showed the videos.
