Today I traded in my (beloved) 2007 Level 5 for a 2012 Prius TWO, not II.. I feel I got a great deal on the car (1 owner, great service history, new tires/alignment, Certified Pre-Owned and 29,000 miles!). Heres my 2007 parked next to my (New to me) 2012 Prius Two today!: Ive been active in the Gen2 forums mainly, but look forward to hanging out here now! You thought you could run and hide didnt you? Has anybody modded their Prius Two by adding a backup cam? I really liked that in my Gen2, and I am quite the busy mod-der. Also, I removed the Sirius that I added into my Gen2, and was hoping somebody could give me insight regarding adding it to my Gen3? Any tips are appreciated!
I regret to inform you you owe $1000 fee to the Gen2 forum....we do not let people out without payment (I am interested in the back up cam mod for my other car, according to my wife)
Nooooooooooo! Don't leave the gen II club! You always had me laughing with all your hilarious replies. All jokes aside, congrats on the new ride! Does it have the stock 15" rims? That's one thing that sucks about the gen 3, the stock rims look super shitty and cheap. On the plus side the upgraded rims are to die for
Does your 2012 have the black rims under the hubcaps? If so I think they look sweet. Just pop some center caps on and you have free "rims"... If they are the silver ones you might like that look or you can plasti dip them black or just rock the hub caps till they fall off like mine did..... Well lost one and figured it was just easier, looked better, and was cheaper to pop em off...
I made my transition to Gen III quietly, with little fanfare. I also promised to visit the Gen II forum often and continue to comment, which I have. And I am most certainly enjoying my Generation III experience thus far.
There just might be a bill outstanding somewhere. I will have to carefully mind my pints and quarts lest I incur some wrath.
Seriously? I've hung around Prius Chat so long, that I like to think I'm pretty familiar with the entire "Prius Family" across generations. But I even commented here before I even owned a Prius. And I poison the conversation with my presence across the board. Sure I own a Gen 3, but I think I've got enough knowledge to sometimes hit a base hit in a different forum. I'm not afraid to boldly crash the OTHER party.
Im on day 4 with my new Gen3 and I LOVE IT!!! I dont miss my Gen2 at all. Things I like about the 2012: - Base stereo is as good as my 2007 JBL system - LED daytime running lights. Sweet. - Heat is way hotter and heats up a lot quicker than my 2007 did - "Touch trace" heads up display thingy. Mega cool. - The front end looks so much more sporty. Im down with sporty. - More powerful. More smoother. Much much quieter. - Brakes seem more refined. Transitioning is seamless. - Seems bigger inside. Seats are wider? Driver seat definitely goes back further than my Gen 2 AND I can jack it up in the air or down!! Bonus. - Gear shift selector on the "flying buttress". - New menus up on the combination meter that are so much more useful (monthly gas usage, the "Power bar", etc) - The touch screen stereo is very easy to use, and i LOVE the bluetooth streaming. Also, programming speed dial phone numbers in it is 1001% easier. Things I could care less about: - No automatic (On at dark) headights yet, seriously Toyota?! - Everytime I alternate between "auto" and a manually made selection in the HVAC controls, do NOT turn the a/c back on. I think my 2007 was like this too, but annoying. - Its a Prius Two, not II, so I only have smart key on my drivers door. - Those weird alien teardrop wheel covers. Every time I look at them, I think about aliens eyes. lol. Today I blocked the lower grill (- 10 to -20f here in Michigan NOT including wind chill lately). I ordered the necessary components to have Sirius stream through the stereo like a factory install, I also ordered a Homelink dimming rear view mirror, AND tomorrow I get the windows tinted
I havent had the need to gas up yet, as the dealer gave me a full tank of gas. BUT I will, of course, be updating my Fuelly, which is in my sig line. And if you check out my Fuelly account, 2 1/2 years of mpg averages are up there from my Gen2. Im interested to compare the two as well!!
I bet you're pumped you don't have to deal with that damn "bladder" anymore.. see what I did there. . sorry lol!
Not scientific or anything. I drive 140 miles a day, 5 days a week, same route. In my 2008 the 3 year long term average was 47.5 mpg. I've been driving my 2011 now since November 2014 and the long term average (have not reset Trip B since purchase) is 49.3 mpg. That is for 9396.1 odometer miles. And it's a bit low probably due to winter temperatures, but those are Arizona winter temperatures.
Yes, but you look soooooo much cooler in that nice new redesigned 2011 vs your old 2008 Thats good for 5 more mpg's - Gotta factor that in somewhere!! lol
There is that coolness factor. I still miss my 2008 though. Spent a lot of time in that car. I'll have to update my avatar here one of these days.
So, what are the payments and for how long? Interesting that you like the look and feal of the gen 3 more than the gen2, most threads on the subject are of the opposite opinion, I had a 2, also felt it looked nicer and drove more sporty, my mileage with the 2 during the summer was 52mpg, with the gen3I get 62mpgs in the summer.
