Every weekend. But since it's summer here south of the equator, the weather permits my obsession. I got my car end of December last year and am still very much in love with it! My only problem is I have to allow my children back into the car and they track all sorts of dirt into my beautiful clean car!!!!
What model do you have? Your profile says that you have the model 4 C. It should already have the heat shield. My model 1 C does not have the heat shield.
once or twice in the 3 years i've had it. it looks pretty good though, and my kids have their own dirty cars.
You made me go out and open the hood and mine does have one. For some reason I though it didn't have it. My bad, need more coffee.
I used to know a person who postulated that washing cars was an act of shallow vanity. He argued that every car would reach the point of dynamic equilibrium, when the rate of dirt build-up would be same as the rate of deposits peeling off. His car had been white. And I used to know a person, who detailed his drab-colored Subaru every weekend, checking the cleanliness with the drill sergeant method: by rubbing the surface a white handkerchief. Humans; what a peculiar species.
I've been washing every other day now (also collecting my vacuum tokens per every wash), since I live with snow and a monthly unlimited hot wash+ hot wax and many extras is just $27 a month (it's a wash tunnel, but so far so good, brand spanking shiny car every other day)...will probably cancel the monthly when summer comes and car becomes less dirty (and also no snow salt)
When I was younger, I took a lot of pride and enjoyment in trying to keep my vehicles looking as nice and new as long as possible. I had a black pick-up I washed every weekend. It really was just part of the weekend. I did NOT have a garage, it was parked outside, and 4 years into ownership, people would still come up to me and ask me if I was happy with my "new" pick-up. But I enjoyed doing it, and I had invested into a good supply of cleaning tools and products, so it was just like a relaxing hobby. I've slowed down a bit. And where I live now isn't very convenient as far as washing and waxing myself. But I still have a baseline of supplies I keep, and even though I rely a lot more on coin operated wash's or even the dreaded "Drive Thru"...I'd say I keep my vehicle cleaner than most. So anyway, if it is something you enjoy doing? I see no problem in "enjoying" cleaning your car every weekend. As long as the time spent doesn't become detrimental to the enjoyment of those kids you are letting into the back of the car. But I figure an hour or so on the weekend doing something you enjoy for yourself? Well if it happens to be cleaning your car? There are far worse hobbies or obsessions one could have.
Car is getting dirty due to rainy week. Need another clean this weekend It's my excuse to use the Karcher pressure washer...
