My engine was blown due to low oil most likely. What is a fair price to replace with a used one at local dealership? Is Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) engine exactly the same as Prius?

The v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) is the same engine as the 2010 and newer Generation III engines.
www.car-parts-com is showing an average used engine cost to be $1500.
My guess for labor and fluids would be in the ballpark of $700 from an independent to perhaps $1500 from a dealer,

Thank you all for the replies. Dealer quoted me with $5700 and one year warranty. is it a fair price?

:eek:is that a new engine? that sounds like a very unfair price for a used engine. ask how much for parts and how much for labor.

Were the oil changes done at the dealer? There have been accounts of the service personnel leaving drain plugs out, improper oil levels (over/underfilled), etc. If the dealer was the only one that performed maintenance on the vehicle, they should be paying for any repairs or replacements required.

Contact Avi. Your dealer's price is very high.
