<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(BayouBulldog @ Apr 6 2006, 08:25 PM) </div> Well, I have a super white with beige interior and the dashboard is still black, so you wouldn't have gained anything there!
In my neighborhood, the majority seem to be blue. I wanted a blue or the new light green, but after turning a few silver ones down and waiting a couple or extra months, finally took a silver. That's all that seemed to be coming in in my #3 package.
Prii have become popular in rental fleets, and white & silver are the most-purchased fleet colors. I specified the Silver Pine Mica, an awesome new 06 color on the Prius (previously only offered on the 05 Avalon). Very easy to keep clean, hides normal road-dirt well. And, a "rare" and unique color B)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(cary1952 @ Apr 7 2006, 10:24 AM) </div> DITTO on both!!! And yes, Galaxee, another good reason to get black!!! See a lot of Tideland around here too.
Oh, I so wanted a Seaside Pearl. And I waited, and I waited. And finally the dealer called and said no dealer in the area had seen any Seaside Pearls in a couple of months, and meanwhile people who had ordered their cars weeks after I had were picking them up. So would I settle for another color? So I did, but I will have to say I'm happy with my Barcelona Red Metallic.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(livelychick @ Apr 6 2006, 11:18 PM) </div> I have definitely seen the most Silver. I hate silver. There are way too many silver cars (any make) on the road. When I start shopping for mine in the near future, I hope to get a blue or red one, though I would consider any colour if it matches all my other requirements. Anyway, at least Toyota offers some real colors, unlike the HCH - "do you want it in Silver, Silver, White or Grey?" Ughhhh...... how about a color rather than a shade? Honda Canada - HCH colors Kevin
At lest when I got my car there were more whites being shipped than silvers. I would say that I see more whites in town than silvers, but silvers are a close second. A lot of emotion and thinking may go into a choice like that, including what you can get! I had a very dark green car prior to my Prius and it was the hottest car in the summer that I have ever driven. The thing was a oven in summer. I had made a decision that I was getting a lighter, more reflective car this time. I had a black car for my second car and it was cooler. My best was a silver car. I had a white car, it was a VW microbus and I am not sure about size and window area, but the silver maxima did seem to do better, so my first choice was silver and second white and I got my first choice. In my opinion silver looks better on this car, no offence. I like the Salsa that looks good, and the driftwood is unique but I am happy with my choice.
actually i have a "scientific" poll on this. last summer, i went to the movies to see Narnia and my showing was sold out so the theater cancelled another show and set up a different showing but had to stagger the start time (i assume because they had to share reels). rather than leave and come back or stand inside and wait, i walked the parking lot and counted Priuses. the verdict, in order, silver (one short of half) black blue red white tidelands gold keep in mind, our mild weather probably pushed black up the list. in warmer climes, it probably would not be as popular.
i guess for me....i wanted the tideland pearl.....i thought it was one of the most unique & beautiful colors i have ever seen on a car.....however....the dealer offered me a #5 red salsa.....& it did take some getting used to...... red happens to be my favorite color.....but i just couldnt see myself getting a red car...so yes- this is my 1st red car........when i think of red it signals the cops! lol....however over the next month after having it.....it truly grew on me... i still luv the tideland....but red salsa is a close second.......its very maroon & pretty....in fact......red salsa should have been the name for the new red...that one is brighter & closer to the salsa coloring....... sorry barcelona......red salsa has it going on! u can have the silver & white cars.......there are a ton of them out there......but when it comes down to it......i prefer the the more unique.......but overall...... who cares about what is most popular....its what u want for urself......& in prius they are all beauties!
With the high demand, popularity is really a moot point... you buy what they produce, and as it's been said, they produce more silver than anything else. If you ask me, i'd say a fairly large percentage of those with silver would have prefered something else (me, i wanted seaside pearl but happily accepted my silver). So i say we start a new poll... What was your first choice if you ended up with silver?
I ordered the Seaside Pearl because it's my favorite color. I placed the order in January, and got the car last week. I also a Super White Prius in the showroom that looked really nice and sharp, but being I once owned a white car and a black car, I was in the mood for some color this time. I never really cared for Silver much. Like one person posted, silver is a very common color. The Barcelona red is another nice color for the Prius...I'd even consider that one and I dont like red. When you are buying a used car, color might not be a real option but being I bought this new....I wanted it to be all the things I wanted...including blue! I bought a green SUV once thinking I could learn to live with it because the milage was lower then the same SUV in blue for the same price....and no matter what, I never could get myself to like that color and I only had it for a 4 months. It depends on your personality I suppose, and how much you defintion you need. Did anyone ever read something that remarked what the colors of a car can do? For instance: White is supposed to get into the most accidents because people have difficulty seeing them sometimes. Red (of course) gets the most speeding tickets because the color attracts attention.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA @ Apr 9 2006, 10:16 AM) </div> I agree. I love a black Prius, but I live near New Orleans. Black cars can get pretty unbearable down here during summers. Gary 2006 Super White
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Godiva @ Apr 6 2006, 11:16 PM) </div> That's my situation. I tried making mine snow-white (see avatar), but it didn't last. I would like something with more color, but the dealer called me up and said they were getting some unclaimed Prii, would I be interested in the only base model that was coming in, which happened to be silver, so I said sure (after some deliberations). The appearance of the car is not its strong suit, in my opinion (not masculine, like my previous forest-green Subaru Outback), but I like what goes on under the hood and in the cabin area. I would like to add, a light exterior color and the darker interior color is the easiest to keep a clean appearance. nerfer
Definitely silver! I see at least 2 silver Priuses for every non-silver Prius (sometimes more) out in normal everyday driving.
Yes, Seaside Pearl is it! The only color exclusive to the Prius and unlike any other color out there...............
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(gilahiker @ Apr 7 2006, 12:28 AM) </div> Here in Cental NJ I got a Driftwood Pearl, just a few of these around here. Have seen a real mix of all of the other colors.
I orderd my Seaside Pearl the third week in January and got it on February 2. But I had to get it with leather.
Im going with Sea Glass Pearl and of course this reply is 10 years later which speaks a lot about the evolution of the Prius!!!
