Miles on OEM tires before replacement?

Mine lasted to 42k miles. I could've gone further because the treads haven't gotten down to the wear indicator but I started to hydroplane at 60 mph so I decided to get new ones. I ended up getting Continental PureContact tires. I love them!!

 

Our work trucks have Michelin LTX M/S2. 49k miles and still have 6/32 of tread at 65/80 PSI and majority of those have been towing around Northern California including Tahoe with chains but the trucks at our LA location had the tires replaced at 30k miles.

As for my Prius, Yokohama S33D replaced at 33k or somewhere near there. I probably could've pushed it to 40k but Tire Rack had a special and ended up getting 4 Avid Ascend T Rated for $268 shipped and mounted/installed for free. 80k mile warranty, MPG is the same and currently at 53k miles and they're wearing evenly at 38/36...max sidewall is 51 but tried 50/48 during summer and almost rattled my car apart along with my body, can't imagine if i had left them at that during the cold months.

 

I have 102,000+ miles on the original Yoko Avid S33's on my 2011 Prius. 85 mile commute daily in the high desert of Southern California between Palmdale and Edwards AFB. Very few lights/stop signs and mostly flat surface. I am just into the wear bars

I have the same ones. I have 31,000 miles on them and starting to look bad. Hope to get 36,000 before I update.

 

Mine did not survive razor blade tools in the road but at 44K and 42 PSI most of the tread is still there.

 

So, three-years/36,000-miles looks doable with the OEM tires?

 

I'm at 40k on my OEM's now and they look like they have quite a bit of life yet.

 

Mine is 90 % highway miles at one 1/2 years so yes that is a good guess. The more I look the more I am confused on what to buy. The Michelin Energy Saver A/S Tire looks really good but does not have a miles warranty either. I want something that will get 60,000 or more. That is about 3 years for me.

 

I'm at 33k or so and I've noticed they look a bit worn. Need to check with a gauge. They are the Ecopias.

Probably replace them with Defenders. I had good runs with them on my old Civic and the mpg hit compared to Energy Saver is made up with the extended lifespan. I'd need a compelling argument to not buy Michelin though.

 

When I purchased my 2013 Prius I negotiated to get 17" rims and Michelin MXM4 tires. Well I had the 20K mile service car has only 17808 miles on it but the dealer mentioned the tire wear LF 5/32, RF 4/32, LR 5/32, RR 5/32
The tires are warranted for 55000 miles but are these really worn out tires??

I'm at 41k on my original tires and I think I can easily go another 20-30k on them if not longer.

 

Razor blades in the road on a metal stick ruined at least one tire at 44K Lots of tread left.

I have a 2010 Prius Model 4. I am in the market for tires. I have approx 53,000 miles on my car and currently have the original tires
on the car. Dealer said I need tires soon. I get great mileage, anywhere from 49 to even as high as 58 mpg. The tires on the car now are Bridgestone. I have an 85 mile commute 3 times a week. I am considering getting either the Michelin Energy saver or the Defender. The tires I have now are noisy and I would like to know if anyone has any input on the noise level on the tires I am considering.

Assuming they're EP20, don't dismiss them as replacements.

The Energy Saver A/S will give a slight edge in mileage, but command a premium price. The Defenders will definitely drop your mpg.
