I read thru the Prius 2004 groups at yahoo on occasion, and I see a listing of some digest that comes from this site -- with titles of all posts. I'd consider it spamming, personally... and I think it ought to stop. Dianne
They are being sent 1x a week, and are actually a remnant of back in December when I tried to get the Digest system working. Now that it is working, the YG is getting one because of the requests I received to have it sent there back in December. I've had several individuals contact me to thank me for having it sent there, and one complaint. Make that 2.
well I read that board and saw three in one digest. You know, it's really not needed at all, doncha think? If they wanna read what's here they should just come here! :> This is the only place I post anymore.
I believe that's because it splits the one email into several parts because of the size. I agree that it's not needed, a very small % of our traffic comes from Yahoo. I'll remove it as soon as I get a chance.
i would think that any unsolicited email would have to carry an 'opt out'. if there is no way of opting out, i would have to agree with dianne, it's spam.
it smacks It just smacks of shameful self-promotion... and it's not terribly necessary... it's a board here now that asks for donations... I hope that makes sense, no judgment passed.
That's too bad. Individuals at 2004-Prius act as if their decisions for the group carry enough weight for them to make rules. Nobody currently using 2004-Prius actually has that authority. Nobody...
And that's the problem - because nobody is running the group, it's totally out of control. Which is why I unsubscribed from it.
I wish I COULD unsubscribe from YG. I can't remember the name I subscribed under and when I request unsubscribe nothing happens!!!
When you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ (down right now) there's no way to get your ID back using the email address the mail is sent to? I HOPE that functionality is buried in there somewhere. Email => ID => lost password seems important to be able to do...
If you're not sure which email address you're recieving eGroups (er, Yahoo Groups) mails on, look at the "X-eGroups-Return" header: this has "sentto-", a bunch of numbers and hyphens, then your email address with "@" replaced with "=", then "@returns.groups.yahoo.com". You'll need to use that address to unsubscribe. And no, they don't use the <list-name>-request convention that every other mailing list uses.
danny=suspiciously helpful in assisting folks who want to unsubscribe from another board <snicker>
http://tinyurl.com/2wl88 should help get you out of any group. I guess it would be best to use the email address that gets the Yahoo mail...
