Due to the sheer number of members on this forum, it is obvious that the Prius does not have a flaw that would cause this vibration or we would be aware of it. The vehicle is in its sixth and final year of production, so we have a lot of owners who would have made this obvious before now. The only thing it could be is a bad batch of tires...

^ It could be a bad batch of wheel bearings. And if the dealership got cars with consequitive serial numbers....

Not that I'd take the time to do this on a rental, but... if he gets the front of the car up on jack stands diagnosing a bad wheel bearing is pretty easy. Just check for lateral play and/or grinding/clunking sides.

I'm assuming the car didn't have these symptoms originally. Something occurred on #2 or between 2&3 that lead to this.

It's hard to tell from the description if the vibrations vary by speed and/or are present throughout all speeds. The description mention he thought the tires needed balanced, so that would lead me to believe that the vibrations only occur at certain speeds?

    Gerald,
What happened at your arbitration? I have the exact same issue. I had arbitration with the NcDS last month and they felt the vibration while I drove but denied the claim saying it was normal for that speed. I have requested a hearing with the state now.

    Hi Boris,
Same issue here with mine. Have you gotten it resolved? I am going to arbitration with the state soon.

Take your Prius to the dealer and let them check the Manifold for any sod and dirt that could block the small intake holes. I experienced that before as you describe, then i found out it was the manifold which caused this problem i had.

Does it feel like it comes from the rear axle? Mine had a vibration that I solved with the trd anti-sway bar...

Maybe this would be a lemon law issue.

Sounds like tire harmonics. Try to get them balanced properly. Also check your wheel bearings.

I am having the same issues with my 2012 Prius C. I bought the vehicle off of an older couple that drove the vehicle around town. It has 22,000 miles on it. Toyota dealer balanced the tires and said that their tech said that this was just the nature of the car. This is crap. What process do I need to take next? Why are the people that had hearings in regards to this not posting their results?

I now have 90,000 miles on my 09, and the third set of tired ( Ecopias). I am convinced the problem is a drive train balance problem. I have learned to live with it.

My car has the problem at all speeds. It is most noticeable at speeds over 40mph. The vibration is worse at times. The worst is coasting or at just enough gas pedal to maintain a speed. This is not acceptable. I will take this to the courts. Again, why are we not hearing from those that filed complaints, where they bought out?

I do not have a c. I have had cars that I have had vibration problems and other problems that turned out to be tires. I would replace the tires with a new set of Michelin tires just to rule the tire problem out.

the trouble with balancing and alignment is, it doesn't solve a tyre defect.

Had tires balanced and road tested by Toyota service department. Not the tires. They called their Toyota rep and was told this was normal for the car. This is not normal.
