I haven't had a single problem since they replaced my charger. It's been two weeks now. The dealer seemed to know what it was doing.

 

i thought we'd see a lot more of these, seems to have been just a few bad ones.

 

Over three weeks from the repair and no problems, thankfully

Just wanted to chime in and add my 2015 PIP to the conversation. Ran into the similar "Check Hybrid System" error last night after charging at work. Took it to a dealer here in San Jose and they had no clue what to make of it. They returned my car after dismissing the error, but sure enough the issue occurred again after charging the car for about 20 mins. The car is back with them to "figure out what's going on". Funny enough, while dropping off my car, another PIP was sitting in front of me with the exact same issue.

 

tell them it's the on board charger, might expedite things.

 

Yup, thanks for the suggestion! Just received a call from the dealer and their trying to order the "charging unit". Hoping to get it in within "a couple of days".

Not too many, I've heard. It's rumored that others exist in my city, but so far I've never seen one. As a plug-in hybrid, the PiP isn't the leader of the pack; most other plug-ins have a greater range. But as the best hybrid in the industry with "plug-in capabilities" the PiP has no rival.

 

With the mileage I drive, I'm using 15% EV, the rest hybrid, and getting 74 mpg. I'm lovin' it!

Interestingly, I'm getting about 13.5 mi on a full charge where I was getting bout 12.9 before.

 

It varies, but I don't think you'll be disappointed. The PiP is a great car for a lot of reasons, but it was never designed for primarily electric use.

 

Mine re-set to 13.5 too. The computer will slowly adjust that calculation based your actual use and mileage.

 

you're not 'getting' anything different except an estimate.

Hi all - Just got this on my 2015 PIP, about 3 months old. My suspicion is something bad happened when we lost power last night but maybe it's just a bad charger. I'll mention the charger when they call me for the estimate tomorrow. I took it to SF Toyota, crossing my fingers.
