Ok, I see...Is there anything that can be done with that? Is it still under the warranty mentioned by another user? I do remember that the first time we had the problem with car not turning on was during winter almost 2 years ago :(

there should be an extended warranty on it i thinkyou can check the 12 volt with an inexpensive digital volt meter. is it possible that you left a door or light on and the battery wore down?

Thank you. I think I'll try to jump it since I don't have the meter available right now...

In your first post, you said it just "blinks". Does that mean just once or that it continues to blink ?
At the very least, you should check the oil level.
I personally do NOT recommend driving with warning lights on......ever......unless you are absolutely sure what the cause is.

Yes, it just blinks & then goes away. That's the only thing that blinks.

    Here is a problem.
    Terminology is important.
Your present problem is NOT that the car won't turn on but that part of the dash display does not come on, right ??
That is quite different than the car not coming on and not running.

OK, then that probably is normal.
A LOT of the warning lights come on briefly at power up to test the lamps; the CE light is one of them.
It probably is just more prominent since all of the others are not coming on at all.

I turn it on, the dashboard is dark besides the "check engine" that blinks twice and goes off, the monitor inside is on, everything else works (heat, audio), the backup camera does not work. I can hear the engine working and the hybrid battery is almost full on display

And yes, you are right - the car turns on but, but it doesn't show "ready" like it should and the power button doesn't light up in green like it should...

And if you put it in gear, the car actually GOES, both forward and back.......right ??
If so, this is NOT a case of "the car won't turn on".

We've established the problem is the combination meter. Don't add to this thread, might confuse the OP with the additional questions

Got it! Thank you. I found out that my husband cleaned the car yesterday from snow and potentially didn't properly closed the trunk (which happened before). But then, the car would've not locked? But it did in the morning...

Listen.......if the car will start and your able to drive it forget about the 12 volt battery.

Your dashboard is out. That's a free replacement
It is under a Technical Service Bulletin.
This is also why no camera.

What u call the monitor is called the MFD multi function display.

The main issue right now is the check engine light.
Main cause for that is low engine oil.
Many posters already asked u to check it.
    It takes 30 seconds

And OP means original poster. That's u.

    OP = Original Poster.

Hopefully you will have done as Tampa suggest: safely take a video of the combination meter not being on, despite the car being in "Ready" mode; being driven forward in the presence of other cars moving forward too would be an added bonus. This will serve as proof for you to use with a service writer and/or technician who is/are being lame, and won't replace the combo meter b/c they can't observe the problem you are experience.

Too funny. This info has been available since Post #10 by JC. The Lusciou's Garage link contains a good explanation of this problem and provided a link for the Toyota Combination Meter Warranty Extension.

Thank you, but, unfortunately, my car is NOT in "ready" mode. The MFD is completely black, the Power button not green

Thank you for elaboration. I just changed engine oil though at Toyota dealership :( I have never checked oil myself, so my husband will do that when he gets home...

if he left the hatch open, your 12 volt could be low, which can cause all kind of weird things to happen.

Ok.That usually is an overfill.Quick way to check 12 volt is just turn on the headlights
And look at them and see how bright they are.
Should be bright white.Or dealer messed up and oil filter loose and engin has. No oil.
    See plenty of those.
