I arrived work an hour later than normal. I forgot to turn off the headlights this morning on my 2012 Prius C2. (8:00AM) I didn't notice headlight was on because sunset was so bright when I dropped off my stuff before unloading my postal truck (5:15PM) At 5:30PM, my co-worker said I left my headlights on! I started my C2 without any problems which leads me to wonder if Prius C actually turns off headlights automatically, if so how many minutes? Back to 5:15PM, wondering opening my door triggers headlights to go on? Thanks, Mikey The Mailman
Firstly is your light reminder buzzer working? But yes there is a battery-saving feature: Interestingly this function is different in the Australian i-tech model... in our case if the Power switch has been operated to turn the car off or be in Accessory mode and you open the driver's door, the lights go off immeadiately.
Rob, I can't hear most sounds not even my hearing aid would pick that up. But thanks...It makes sense otherwise my 35 or so co-workers would have noticed headlights still on when they left the property as my car is next to exiting lane. Mikey the Mailman

Yes and yes. I think it's about 10 minutes......which can be a problem if your battery is a bit weak. Do you have an owner's manual ?? Very useful document.
This is something I don't understand, when you turn off the car and get out the lights should go off, if KIA can do it in a $13k vehicle I'm pretty sure Toyota could do it in a Prius.
To each his own. Some owners actually WANT their lights to stay of for more than a few seconds........for security reasons. I think you get the best of both worlds with automatic headlights. And I also think that 20 minutes is WAY too long for the timeout with the manual version.
For sure this is one of the few things I think they made a mistake on. No automatic headlights on my a 2013 C4? I would have also like a rear dome light. Other than that, I love this car.
