My family has outgrown the C so it was time for a change. I got a 2015 Camry LE hybrid. The lift-back Prius dashboard was a deal breaker for me. I drove a couple Prius v wagons and they just didn't feel right. I drove the Camry and there was a choir of angels singing in the back, so I had to have one. This is my first brand new car ever and I'm so excited! Nicholas
wow! they really changed the look from our '13. congrats, keep us informed on your experience. all the best!
Two week update: I got the windows tinted 50% front 5% rear. I think it really makes the white pop. I have put 400 mile on so far, the computer says I'm averaging 44MPG and the gas gauge shows above half full. I'm loving the car so far but it has an annoying squeak in the headliner. The mechanic at the dealership heard it on a test drive but I need to leave it overnight because it will take several hours to fix. They said it was covered by the warranty so I will be happy as long as they can fix it. I'm dying waiting to finish the break in to see how quick it really is. Nicholas
Beautiful - enjoy! My next door neighbor drives a Prius V but still pines occasionally for the hybrid Camry he traded for the V.
One month update: Still loving the Camry! The dealership got the headliner fixed, they billed Toyota almost $500! I'm glad it was covered. I finished the "official break-in" it has lots of power and will spin the tires on turns. I drive like a grandma 99% of the time, but it's nice to know the power is there if I need it. I got my first tank of gas 11.987 gallons 552 miles = 46MPG! I'm very pleased. This is with about 25% highway 75% city. I still haven't seen another 2015 Camry in the wild yet, maybe the leftover 2014 deals are too good. Nicholas
Congrats. and glad you like it. I learned a lot about my 2012 TCH over at http://www.toyotanation.com/ in the Camry Hybrid forum. I've learned even more about my Prius here.
I have a 2014 Avalon Hybrid XLE touring. The gauge cluster in your Camry are almost identical to my Avalon. Just a couple of minor differences.
I was wanting an Avalon and I liked it but I just couldn't justify the money for a bunch of options I don't want. If they had an Avalon LE hybrid I would have one in my garage right now. I prefer cloth seats to leather, and I HATE sunroofs. I'm loving the Camry, it is 98% of the car for 75% of the money of the Avalon. YMMV
You make some good points. You can't go wrong with a Camry. If there are 2 options that you want you have to pay for 4 that you do not want to get the 2. I know all about that. Good luck with your Camry. You will like it.
Update: I filled up last night and my MPG has dropped to 37 with a lifetime total of 41. It has been super cold and snowy the last couple weeks. The ICE runs a lot more just to keep warm. The white paint is pretty but it shows a lot more dirt than I expected. I guess I'm used to silver. I'll have to look into car wash volume discounts. So far it has done great in the snow, very stable in the wind. My Prius C was all over the road in the wind. I also found out the cruise control keeps the speed setting on steep downgrades, maybe not the most efficient way to drive but it sure is nice on long trips. Nicholas
Three month update: The honeymoon is over and I still love the Camry, but it does have its quirks. I had the flu real bad two weeks ago and my Dad drove me to the doctor, this was my first time riding in my car. I noticed the passenger seat is up very high (I'm 6 feet 2 inches) and my head almost touched the headliner. It has a power drivers seat and I have lots more room when I'm driving. I filled the tank again and calculated 41 MPG with 41 MPG lifetime average. The display is showing 47 MPG about 100 miles into the tank. The weather has been MUCH warmer the past few weeks. I'm seeing a lot more 2015s around town, they must be pretty popular. I'm kind of wishing I would have waited to get a silver one, most of my gas savings are going to car washes. I've never washed a car as much as this one. Nicholas
we're right at 41 on the gauge, probably high 30's when we fill up. 5 degrees right now and dropping. hope you feel better!
