I've seen a few threads from people asking about lights in the cargo area of the v but no how to threads. Has anyone added cargo lights to their v that didn't already have lights? How hard of an install is it if you have?

I put a round "stick-on" LED on the right side of my cargo area. It takes 2 AAA batteries. I use Energizer lithium batteries. In my previous RAV 4 they lasted about 2 years.

You may have to use a better grade of double sided tape to keep it in place permanently. The area where you will place it needs to be cleaned well with alcohol before applying the light.

This light's switch is the lens. Press to turn on and again to turn off.

I have looked at this and just not done/selected what I want. There are a number of battery powered, small, bright LED lights that adhere by self-adhesive or small screws that could be installed and all you do is press on the center of the little fixture. There may be a problem with the adhesive failing in a really hot car (like in AZ in summer). I also found a small 12 volt 4 white LED light strip at Auto Zone, etc. that cold easily be hard wired into the existing switch. I could be easily mounted above the existing light and switch and come on with auto switch function or wired to manually come on with a small toggle switch using the power to the switch.

This is what I am considering; but, am concerned the adhesive mounting will fail in a car that super heats when parked in sun. Any experience with that? We used the same light in several places in our RV; but, it never got too hot.

I'd like to put 2 lights in the square spots in the hatch. Have them turn on when the hatch is opened.

Here's a set of LED's that fits into the rear license plate bulb cover.

    Rear Cargo Hatch Lights

I have a set and it took about 10 days to ship. I haven't had the time to install them yet.

I''ve got it, know it fits, and am hoping for a translation of the detailed Japanese language instructions.

So you haven't installed it yet? Is there a wiring harness with the kit, or are you required to splice wires?

The two harnesses (lift gate and chassis) are nicely built, are shrink-wrap sheathed, and have the proper two-pin plugs to mate with OEM Toyota jacks.

That said, the instructions for running the harnesses through panels and accordion sheathing between chassis and liftgate are in Japanese, which I am trying to get translated. I could wing it, but I'm not in a hurry to ruin anything.

I live in Las Vegas and keep my car outside a lot. So far the extra strong double-sided tape I used (after the original tape failed) has kept the light fixed in place in a very hot 'Vegas summer.

    Yakoma,, nice lighting work.

Yaksushi,, I used SCOTCH brand heavy duty double sided tape to hold my LED light in the trunk. Got it at Lowe's.

No joy on translation. Were you able to get yours installed?
