Does anyone know if the small fixed triangular side window on a GenIII that is in between the windshield and the driver side window is a legal spot for mounting a phone/gps device? I've read that in California it is illegal to mount the phone with a suction cup attachment up near the rear view mirror on the main windshield. It has to be within 5" of the bottom edge of the windshield, which of course positions it too far away because of the extreme slope of the windshield. I wondering if it is legal on the side window? In California.
I have my Garmin mounted there and I have never had an issue with the cops in California or any other state.
That's good to know. I will go by your experience (Thanks!) and take my chances but I am still curious whether the side window placement is legal or not based on the California 5" windshield rule that I've read about? I don't want a ticket just because some officer of the law is in a bad mood.
