I just found out from a dealer that my odometer (2004) does not go above 300,000 miles. I guess if I had been on Priuschat more regularly I would have discovered this long ago! Has anyone gotten an answer from Toyota as to why this is so, or what (if anything) they are going to do about it? I'd think it would be fairly bad publicity for them to have it publicized that they don't expect the Prius to last more than 300,000 miles...
A lot of us have had our multi-displays replaced under warrantee and it is my understanding that the refurbished units perfectly preserve that particular defect. At 260K, I see this looming ahead.
Yeah, I had my display replaced, and I'm bummed that they didn't decide to correct it. I'm at 224K right now, and I intend keeping this until it's totally dead, so I was really disturbed when I found out about this REALLY STUPID problem. What, they couldn't afford to make the LED go higher than 2????? Sheesh! It's even worse for those countries that go by KMs instead of miles. Bob Wilson... :-D
When your Prius hits 300k print this out and take it to your local Toyota dealer and tell them that Bob Wilson says you get a new Prius for free ROFLMAO That was a good one Bob
From what I remember reading, the 04-05 models just stop there. You can get it "rolled over" by Toyota I think for a couple hundred, but I don't think they have a fix to make it display accurately.
Be happy...most cars don't make it to 200k without serious repair bills. Mine 05 has 285k and it has been the most cost effective vehicle I've ever own. Most expensive part for me was the water pump ($150).
