I wouldn't do it myself, but I was wondering if it was even possible to have a remote start installed. Does anyone have a remote start installed on the Prius C?
Yes - I have the Viper 5706v installed on my C. I did it myself (though was an installer in highschool and have had one on every car I've owned since my '89 buick lol). You need the Fortin EVO-All bypass module and program it for use with the DEI D2D wiring method. Makes it a pretty easy install. Looks like you have a C4, I have a 2. The benefit of my 2 is that I remote start, get in, turn the key to run and drive off. Typically the easiest way to do a remote start on the push buttons removes that feature. You'd remote start, when you open a door or trunk the engine dies, and you restart the car to drive away. Not a huge deal, but we have small kids, so in my Wife's toyota with push button start I wired it so that it works like mine. She instead remote starts, enters car, double taps the start button and drives away. That wiring is a LOT more complicated. The benefit to the pushbutton ones is though that normally you can just buy the Fortin module, hook little to no wires up (often plug an play or very simple) and keep your factory key and just hit lock 3x and the car remote starts. I went with the DEI for the crazy range (I can be in the back of a Sams club store and car in the farthest spot in the parking lot and start) and 2 way is nice because I can confirm I locked the car, if it started etc). Good luck and let me know if I can help. Chris
yes you can easily install a remote start. like the previous poster posted, a fortin module makes life really life. reduces the wiring of the system from like 25 wires to maybe 10 wires the most.
Thanks guys. Sounds like I need to look into this Fortin EVO-All bypass. I stopped by CarToys and they have a remote start and cellphone start options available. They were showing me the Clifford Brand. Since I park the Prius outside, remote start is become something I am putting on the wish list ASAP, the softex is pretty cold in the morning. (I will say that the heated seats do fire up pretty quickly though)
DEI? Seems like they own everything. I know at one time they pretty much made all the amplifiers available at the car audio stores.
I am thinking about having BestBuy install a Compustar 2-Way Remote Start system (CS4905S-KIT) to my 2014 Prius C One for $269. I do not have the push button, just the regular key. I hear these remote start systems can be harmful (especially to the electrical system) to the car in the long run. Can I have some feedback from Prius C owners who have been using aftermarket remote starters? Have you had any issues?
I have a Viper Remote Start System on my 2018 Prius C. It's absurdly expensive-I shelled out nearly $800 for the system and the install-but it's worth every penny in 114 degree weather. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
