Hi guys, What do you think about this set : 2014 New 72W 6400LM H8 H9 H11 CREE LED Headlight Conversion Kit Lamp Bulb White | eBay Do you think it will work on our 2010 Prius halogen headlights ? It will be plug and play or I will need some extra harness ?
I just ordered a similar set but at 50w. It should all be plug n play, just make sure you ask for the H11 kit when you order it.
So far no one has really found these PnP LED lights acceptable for replacements as lowbeam lighting. It may be bright enough, but the dispersion may not be so good because the LED panels are far from being a point light source like the halogen and an HID arc. SCH-I535
I'd have to agree with xliderider. Aftermarket kits like these rarely provide adequate beam shaping - that is to say the light is scattered out in all directions and not projected down on to the road correctly like the factory headlights. Apparently the xenon supply HID kit has worked well for other members. I can't vouch for it personally, but it's probably a better bet than these.
A low cost light upgrade is the H11 to H9 bulb conversion where you easily modify a low cost 65w H9 halogen bulb so it can be mounted in the standard H11 projector. The H9 bulb provides about 50% more light with a little extra heat that so far has not caused any problems to myself and several other members who have done it. The H9 bulb burns very bright and white, it is a very worthwhile upgrade. Just buy quality name brand bulbs like Philips or Osram, don't buy any Chinese stuff. Even the name brand bulbs cost under $20 per pair, much less than so called premium H11 bulbs. See link in my signature below. SCH-I535
dle, maybe you will attach some photos of your led kit and let us know how it goes. If it's a plug n' play job, if the output light is stronger than halogens, if the light is spread out correctly...stuff like that. I am on H9 bulbs for more than 12 months now but I'm still not happy with the light. I was looking for something else but not so powerful like xenon ...
I found these but haven't found any information on them directly from users on Prius Chat. 3,000 lumens. Great warranty and seems to be solidly built. Price is $200. H11 H16 6000K 3000LM LED HEADLIGHT FOG LIGHT | 1 PAIR - Headlights
$180 if you use code NOV10 at checkout for a 10% discount. You can get a really nice HID kit with that much money though. SCH-I535
I'm looking for some advice...my low beams are not bright enough; never have been. What are the caveats of buying aftermarket lights? Is there a basic choice to get better nighttime visibility with minimal risk? My high beams are fine; no complaints there. Thank you for your input.
I highly recommend the H11 (stock) to H9 bulb conversion for your lowbeams. Simple modification of the H9 bulb to fit in your lowbeam projector housing. Get 50% more light, no extra wiring or ballasts to mount. Link in my signature below. SCH-I535
Trentodestiny, are these the ones you're talking about? Would these work as a low beam replacement or supplement? •Morimoto XB LED Fog lights
No, I was referring to a Morimoto 3Five HID kit, H11 size for the Gen III. Other Morimoto kits with other size bulbs are normally the same price
Did the Morimoto Kit and it's a mess of wires etc to hide within the engine bay etc. Not to mention the cost etc to value
I have rarely had good luck with anything shipped from China. Support is awful as is the quality. If you return it the shipping will generally cost more than the item is worth. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I define value with the morimoto kit as follows: over 2 years before I needed replacement bulbs, and discounted to $25 from $40 by TRS. After 3 years, I needed a bulb but discovered I had been using H11A even though they were supposed to send me H11B. Bulbs were replaced free. After 4 years needed new ballasts, one was free and I bought another one for $35 to match. So how many of those cheap kits would I have had to buy to cover 4 years (or more)? Not counting the hassle of swapping out components. iPhone ?
my post was meant ironically. I have in three cars morimoto hid kits from the retrofit source & I honestly couldn't be more happy with their quality & especially their customer service! BION StarCaller
