It's just an insurance thing for me - to make sure the engine doesn't kick on while I'm out of the car... If for example I pull up and hit the button (which is habit now) and it squaks at me, I know I need to shut the car off because either I don't have enough juice in the hybrid battery, or the engine is too cool.
