I see some interesting information on software updates for the Prius Nav system. I recently purchased a 2010 Prius IV with Nav. How to I tell which make and model it is? Any software updates for it other than the maps update?

For 2010, there was only one type of navigation system - Denso manufactured, DVD-based navigation (before Toyota introduced another type which is probably what you're talking about - the 6.1" Display Audio w/ navigation that's manufactured by Harmon Kardon).

    No software updates, just maps.

The best way is to go to your Toyota dealer and give them the model of your car. They will give you the correct DVD for $169.

If trying to purchase one outside of the dealer the "standard" 2010 Nav system is a Gen 6. So you want to make sure that the DVD is for a Gen 6 Nav system. The model number of the DVD will typically include the last two digits of the year such as 14-1. So it should include something along the line of 14-1 Gen 6.

I would replace the NAV unit with a Garmin based system before I wasted the money on the map updates!
