I have used chat groups on several subjects for some years but it never occurred to me that they existed for cars until I searched for info on the Prius. Do other makes and models have such great and active chat groups as the Prius? A second question. It appears that many people are hell bent on adding bits and pieces to their Prius or modifying it in some way - even on new cars. Is this urge only apparent for the Prius or is there the same sort of behavious for most brands of cars?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Orf @ Mar 30 2006, 06:00 PM) </div> Tasmania! Good grief, Charlie Brown! Welcome! Yes, there are hundreds of car groups online. Many of them can be conveniently found under one roof---namely, Yahoo. I think you can get to them through yahoogroups.com. And yes, a certain percentage of "hardcore" admirers of cars, particularly THEIR cars, enjoy adding mods to them. Even if it's something as generic as a steering wheel cover or mud flaps ("splash guards"), there's always something. Almost like buying toys for your pet. And, of course, there are always a certain number of "accessories" made only for your car that you can add. I'm sure we Americans lead the world in this somewhat excessive behavior. B)
Took a trip from Philadelphia,Pa to Williamsburg, Va this past week and stopped counting oncoming Prius around Wilmington,DE. Wasn't any fun anymore. They are all over the place. Started to see a lot more of white ones around Washington, DC. When I placed my order back in July of 2005, I told the salesman I would take a white or a silver- which ever cme in first. So glad the silver arrived first.

They really don't want to hear that. That SUV parked next to your Prius in the parking lot doesn't compare in mpg. But most people don't even know what they are getting mpg.
What's wrong with [me] being here? I am pretty ticked off that after being away for 6 months, I come back for a day and suddenly a boatload of you want me to leave. What kind of thank you is that for all the hard work I've done these last 29 hours? I've been at other boards and I haven't heard any smack about my presence from any of them, but I show up here at PC for a day and suddenly everyone is talking about me and how confused they are with me and how funny I am and how I should leave or how I should be turned off etc.... Danny has invited me back and I am staying.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Orf @ Mar 30 2006, 06:00 PM) </div> As far as adding bits and pieces, yes that is old, very, very old. I remember the days of high performance door handles. Yes those were the days. In America and elsewhere " tuning " your car and making it " your own " has always been in vogue. Hurst shifter on the floor, modified exhaust, superchargers, NO2, limited slip differentials, and I don't know what all. The list goes on and on. The Beach Boys said it all "Fun, Fun, Fun until daddy takes the car keys away"
