We are looking at a used 2010 Prius IV from a NON Toyota dealer in Salt Lake City. He has the car advertised as a Toyota Certified used car. Is this possible or is this a sales gimmick? How can a NON Toyota dealer sell Toyota certified used cars?
It's not a gimmick, it's a lie. Unless it was once certified used, you get remainder of the warranty only. Not the pre inspection
Certified Only if sold by a Toyota dealer. I bought a 2011 Prius at a Toyota dealer 5 weeks ago. I got a copy of the Certification/Inspection check points/warranty good for one year.
No its not a gimmick, however they must give you the Warranty card and it must say TRANSFERABLE: YES, and the limited warranty its good for 7 years or 100k miles since car's build date with 0 miles, but will not have the full bumper to bumper 1 year warranty that comes with all CPO from a Toyota dealer, as that is not transferable.
Toyota Certified is Toyota Certified. Maybe that dealership has something similar in warranty they offer BUT you won't be able to service it as a Toyota dealership might. Unless they own a Toyota dealership franchise.
