I like my 2012 pip but lease is up and there are no changes with the 2014 or 2025. I decided to check out my options. The accord plug in is pretty cool and so is the fusuon. Any thoughts? iPad ? HD
the Accord is 39k where the PIP is 29k same range so PIP is my next car. I still owe 29k on my 12 so maybe June 2015 I will be shopping around. edit, Fusion has no trunk space.
i like both accord and fusion, but i would miss the 65 -70 mpg in hv mode. i will wait for the new pip to make a decision, but you can't go wrong with any plug in. kitty is right, accord has no trunk space either. that's the result of turning an existing platform into a plug in. dad of hedgehog has the fusion and loves it.
I still have 18 months on my lease of my PIP but I wish I had gone with the Leaf It really fits my range better and I would of never bought any gas. If plugged in nightly
The thing is, the PiP is well packaged. The battery sits beneath the cargo area so all you really lose is the underfloor storage from the non plug-in model. With the other plug-ins, you lose more trunk space over the regular hybrid equivalent (Accord PHV vs. Accord Hybrid and Fusion Energi vs. Fusion Hybrid, ditto the C-Max). However, the Accord and Fusion look stylish and at least the Fusion is fairly fun to drive. I would probably lean towards the Fusion Energi given that Ford has a longer track record with full hybrids, whilst the Accord Hybrid is Honda's first (or second, I can't remember if it was launched before or after the RLX Sport Hybrid) full hybrids (Their Civic/Insight/CR-Z models are mild hybrids using the IMA design). If you don't like it, then hopefully the lease ends after the Gen 2 PiP is launched (which is supposedly a year after the Gen 4 is launched according to news articles) and see what else is new in the market (maybe Ford would have a 2nd gen Fusion Energi or another Energi model by then). Alternatively, if you have a spare car, you can wait and see what GM comes out with for the 2G Volt.
If you don't need a lot of cargo room then the Fusion Energi and the upcoming Volt 2.0 May be worth looking into. The new Volt will seat 5 and should get better ICE mpg. The BMW i3 Rex appears to have a lot of 1st year model issues right now so I wouldn't recommend one.
I could be wrong but I would guess the accord and fusion lease similar to the prius. iPad ? HD I have a 2012 pip. Curious to see if there have been any changes to the car since 2012. Specifically has the crappy entune gotten any better? iPad ? HD
if you done all the entune updates, that's as good as it gets. crappy. but don't feel bad, it's the worst part of every new car on the road. you won't see an improvement if you switch models, at least for the time being.
same for my wife. our only need is a yearly trip to florida, and it would be impractical for that. i'm hoping the next plug in mid size sedan is on a new platform.
we're gone for too long, otherwise, i'd fly and rent down there. is there anything to the volt besides rumors?
If your happy with my he pip then just get another. why risk getting a car that you might not like? If you are unhappy with it then I would cnsider something else.you might want to rent each of the cars you are considering and drive them on your regular commute to see if you like them better.
