Hello, this thread is for Prius owners in San Francisco (city). I realize there is a high concentration of Prius owners in SF as I see at least 2-3 on every city street. Are you guys getting the stated MPG figures? I figure a prius will do worse in SF than say a different city only because of the awful amount of hills we have. At the moment I have just sold my 2008 Honda Accord 4cycl that got me 20mpg in the city & have a weekend car (540HP V8) that averages a atrocious 9-10mpg city (7mpg was my record low). I'll be shopping for a Prius soon as my daily driver, please chime in!

you will have to work hard to get to the stated MPG figures.
If I drive Prius like any other car, I would probably get 43-45 miles a gallon.
no where close to 48 miles on highway.
My mileage is little better, as I am stuck in traffic in most of my commute.
If I am not stuck in traffic jam, the onboard meter gives me a mileage of 46 miles a gallon(3%-4% more than the actual mileage)
The roads on Dallas, specially the Dallas North Toll Way is worse then hills.

Your mileage will suffer, but not as much a non-hybrid. We live in the sierra foothills an get about 46-47 mpg around here; when we drive around Sacramento, which is flat, we get more like 52 mpg.

Thanks guys, I have somewhat of a lead foot but I'm not your typical city stoplight racer, I anticipate red lights/stop signs. As long as I can get above 39mpg I'll be happy!

Nice, I happened to walk by the Uber office yesterday on my way to Starbucks and saw a crowd of drivers protesting, stating they were making less than minimum wage after expenses because of the new wage cuts. Had no idea, thought you guys were making a killing!

You might consider dropping into Arts Automotive or Lucious Garage (Berkley). They might be able to turn you on to a used Prius (lower cost) with equivalent performance.

I got exactly 39 MPG for my last tank calculated by the pump for my 6 mile work commute in the city. Going to work = 52-62MPG on the trip summary display (30-40min drive). When coming home, 30-35mpg if driving local climbing fell st. and then more stop and go hills. 35-45mpg if I take 280. I tried to stay away from power zone on the HSI but just can't maintain 25mph without it on some hills.

I live in Daly City, work in Redwood City and San Francisco, mostly. My commute to Redwood City nets me an average of 50-55MPg. Daly City to SF, 55-65MPG. However, going back from the city to DC, 45-52MPg. I rarely get on the power band on HSI.

I've had 2 full tanks (I'm a new owner) on my prius. First tank I had roughly 400 miles on it averaging 44MPG. My (most recent) 2nd tank, I had 454 miles with an average of 48.5MPg -- both calculated at the pump.

My fuelly data is from since I owned the car.. so that's a pretty good reference. Hill def hurt the MPG but that's any vehicle. It's simply energy required to go up is more. If you are just in SF, my guess is you'll get MPG is the high 30's to low 40's.

Coming from similar background, performance cars into a Prius, a forewarning.. it may really bore you. Though your Accord is pretty mellow, the Prius has even less power. Getting up to speed takes forever and you will be overtaken constantly just because it's a Prius. That's what I've notice driving my car in the Bay Area. Even if I'm going 70+ and even 80.. cars just know they want to pass because it's a Prius.

I live in San Jose and commute to San Mateo. I take the 85 to the 280 to the 92. Lots of hills but beats the 101 traffic.

I use to get 42-45 with the toyo proxes but ever since I had to replace 2 of my tires to cheap non LRR tires because of a flat tire, I am only averaging 40mpg.

I am running on 17 inch Persona wheels which does not help the commute at all in terms of mpg but definitely prefer the look than with the 15 inch wheels.

I live in San Bruno commute to Menlo Park, I take mostly 101S lots of the stop and go traffic, I only average 44+ mpg (actual calculated mpg not the MID display mpg). I had the 17" CT200h rims and Michelin LRR tires, I've been using Costco gas lately (I got better MPG with Shell gas).
